The emphasis of the show is on the relationship between light and technology. From residential buildings and urban infrastructures to industrial applications, Light + Building covers the spectrum from creative lighting design to highly interconnected building-systems technology. For manufacturers, planners, architects, tradespeople, retailers and the real-estate sector, Light + Building is the key marketplace for innovation, networking and knowledge transfer.
Be Electrified – Electrifying Places. Illuminating Spaces.
The motto, ‘Be Electrified – Electrifying Places. Illuminating Spaces’, spotlights the twin strengths of this international trade fair: intelligent energy infrastructure and sophisticated lighting solutions. ‘Electrifying Places’ stands for connected buildings, smart controls, energy efficiency and the integration of renewable sources while ‘Illuminating Spaces’ underscores the emotional, creative and identity-forming power of light.
On this basis, Light + Building 2026 will explore key developments in the fields of lighting and building-services technology via three main themes – ‘Sustainable Transformation’, ‘Smart Connectivity’ and ‘Living Light’ – that constitute the guiding principles of the trade fair. ‘Sustainable Transformation’ focuses on solutions that facilitate the transition to a climate-friendly building sector – from the integration of renewable energies and intelligent energy management to resource-saving product design and sustainable materials. ‘Smart Connectivity’ addresses the increasing digitalisation of buildings whereby connected systems, data-based control and intelligent interfaces lay the foundation for efficient processes, greater convenience and increased safety – from planning to continuous operation. ‘Living Light’ brings together the aesthetic, functional and technological dimensions of light and puts the focus on the creative power of light, which sets the scene, creates orientation, supports functions and generates the atmosphere to make light a key element influencing people’s feeling of well-being, identity and spatial experience.
One Exhibition Centre, two themes: lighting & building-services technology
Light + Building 2026 presents the entire spectrum of solutions in the fields of lighting and building-services technology – clearly structured by product segments at Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre.
The eastern section of the Exhibition Centre is dedicated to light. There, exhibitors present technical luminaires for workplaces, educational facilities, industrial applications and urban settings, as well as decorative lighting solutions for a wide range of purposes. In this connection, particular emphasis is on design-orientated luminaires distinguished by their creative quality and combination of light and form. The transition to building-services technology begins in Hall 8, where lighting control systems, sensors, control gear and components are to be seen. In the western section, the spotlight is on modern building-services technology with a spectrum ranging from electrical engineering, building automation and energy-management solutions to charging infrastructure for electro-mobility. Smart home and smart building technologies also feature prominently there. In the Intersec Building segment, the industry also showcases integrated concepts for connected safety and security – including access control, video surveillance, fire alarm systems and digital protection mechanisms.
