Electric fireplaces,
more and more popular

Do you want to brighten up your decor without having to do too much work? The electric fireplace is a very interesting alternative to create a beautiful effect in a room.

Technological advances in the stove and fireplace industry have made it possible to develop electric fireplaces that offer an interesting “fire experience”. The flame and ember effect is very realistic.

The advantages

Many condo owners opt for an electric fireplace because it is safe and because they don’t have to carry wood, an advantage if the unit is located on upper floors.

Many restaurant owners also choose this type of fireplace to create a pleasant atmosphere in their dining room, without their customers being bothered by the heat. In addition, the glass always remains cool to the touch.

Some models even offer the sound of crackling and the sight of sparks flying, which adds to the ambiance.

It’s easy to install. You won’t need a city permit or to notify your insurance company. Plug in and enjoy your fire!

And what about aesthetics?

Noréa offers several models of electric fireplaces. Whether you choose a more classic or contemporary style, you will find the fireplace that will make you happy.

Choose from a variety of sizes to punch up a narrower room or trim a very large wall with a fireplace that can be up to 8 feet tall.

If you have a masonry fireplace and no longer wish to use it, give it a second life by installing an electric fireplace insert. Some electric fireplace inserts actually look like a wood-burning fireplace. It’s as if it were a wood-burning fireplace!

Customize your fireplace

Several accessories will determine the look of your fire. There is no shortage of choice: classic glowing logs, pebble beds, glass shards of embers, acrylic glass for a more contemporary look… The interior lighting of your appliance will add the final touch that will attract the eyes.

The industry has thought of music lovers by offering fireplace models built into multimedia consoles with storage compartments. Some have a modern look, others are more retro.

Innovation

Finally, here is a technological innovation that will surprise you: electric fireplaces that run on water vapor. You fill the container with water and in a few minutes you can admire a fire that would have been described, in the 70’s, as a bit psychedelic…

Curious to learn more and visualize the effect of your new fireplace at home? Come and talk fireplace with our experts. Drop by one of Noréa’s 19 stores in Quebec to see several of our models in operation on the floor. We can show you “See Through” models, which allow you to see through and enjoy the view of the fire from either side.

110 or 220 volts?

You will find electric fireplaces on the market that operate on 110 volts or 220 volts. Obviously, the 220 volts models offer twice the heating power.

The 110 volts models are simply plugged in like a lamp. For 220 volts, there is a charge for an electrician to connect them. However, it is possible to purchase a 220/110 conversion kit which, depending on the model, could cost about $50.

Note that although it can give off some heat thanks to its fan, an electric fireplace does not have a great calorific performance. Rather, it is a fireplace known for its elegance and ease of installation. Some homeowners use it as a replacement for an electric baseboard heater in a room.

Now that you know almost everything about electric fireplaces, come see us in store and talk about your turnkey project with our expert Noréa consultants.
