4 fuels for stoves and fireplaces

Wood, pellets, natural gas or propane? The choice of fuel is not to be taken lightly when it comes to buying a new heating appliance. Discover the difference between 4 fuels to find your ideal stove or fireplace.

The savior of busy people!

After work, if you arrive home too exhausted to light a fire, a gas stove or fireplace is a good option. Simply press the ignition button to enjoy a beautiful flame and create a soothing atmosphere.

Many models offer different features for all tastes. Don’t hesitate to contact one of our Noréa expert consultants to explain your needs. He or she will be happy to show you the different options.

Natural gas

The use of a natural gas stove or fireplace requires the presence of underground infrastructure. Contact your municipality to find out if installations are required. If not, check with your municipality to find out how to proceed and if subsidies are available.

Propane gas

Like a barbecue, a propane stove or fireplace requires a tank. It is important to have your appliance installed by technicians certified by the Professional Heating Association (PHA) and the Canadian Gas Association (CGA).

Pellets

Wood pellets are made from compressed sawdust. They contain no binding agents or additives. The resin (lignin contained in softwood species) acts as a binding agent, which gives the pellets greater stability, clean burning and higher thermal efficiency. Pellets are an inexpensive fuel available at most hardware stores.

Wood

Wood is the fuel of the purists! Every fire is different, with the smell and the crackle. Maintaining a beautiful flame with hardwood logs is part of the pleasure of hardcore enthusiasts. Walnut, oak, maple and beech logs offer excellent heating power. They must be stored in a dry place for optimal combustion and heat.
