Thanasis POLYZOIDIS

Thanasis Polyzoidis is an architect (NTUA Athens) and a landscape architect (MLA UPC ETSAB). He is founder of TPOL landscape design, and  is also co-founder of topio7 design team .

He has wide experience in landscape and architectural projects at all design scales either at large-scale projects (urban design, parks, squares, waterfronts, landscape restoration, forests parks, quarries, ecosystems, etc.) or at private projects (houses, hotels, institutions, etc.) in Greece and aboard.

Furthermore, he has been granted numerous awards in architectural/landscape design competitions and international exhibitions. His work has been presented in various architectural exhibitions and publications in Greece and abroad. In 2018, he was selected as one of the best 40 architects under 40 all over Europe by the European Center for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies (European Award – 40UNDER40 AWARD 2017-2018). In 2022, he has been selected to be part of the International Jury of the International World Landscape Architecture Professional Awards 2022 (WLA 2022).

The main objective of his work is the holistic approach of the design of space within the framework of ecological – bioclimatic design, sustainability, landscape ecology, and functionality. Among his special interests are the design solutions that emphasize a close connection to nature and its processes, the symbiotic relationship and osmosis between the human-made environment and the natural world and incorporation of the “genius loci” of each site as the guiding force and the source of inspiration for a successful and sensitive intervention.
