Ryann AOUKAR
Ryann Aoukar is a Professor of Industrial Design & Interior Architecture at the University of Tennessee. He received his master’s degree in Product Design from ESAD, Reims, France. Professor Aoukar experience includes 14+years of working at top-level firms in the world. As well as teaching at international institutions. He also has lectured in multiples design conferences and university and exhibited his work in the US, Canada, Finland, and Puerto Rico.
Prof Aoukar’s professional experience includes two of the leading architecture and design firms in the world—OMA, Rotterdam, and Gensler, New York. At OMA, led by internationally renowned architect Rem Koolhaas, Mr. Aoukar was the project leading interior architect for the Headquarters for the Stock Exchange in Shenzhen, China. At Gensler—the largest architecture and design firm in the world—he was the U.S. Northeast Regional Leader for Product Design as well as project designer on significant works in the U.S and Canada.
Prof. Aoukar is the designer of the Terea lamp for the manufacturer LUXO, Norway. The Herman Miller Company presently distributes his design throughout the world. He has also received design patents in the U.S. and Canada for products distributed worldwide. Prof. Aoukar is a winner of significant accolades including prestigious awards from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum: Good Design Award, First Prize for exhibition designs from the SIDIM Show in Montréal, and First Prize for Furniture of the Future from Interior Design Magazine NYC.
Mr. Aoukar is one of the top professors in the field of interior architecture and industrial design in the United States. In 2015, Designintelligence—the Design Futures Councils highly respected annual ranking of America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools—recognized Prof. Aoukar as one of the ‘30 Most Admired Educators of 2O15.
