Pete EVANS

Pete Evans AIA IDSA, is an architect, industrial designer, and educator at Iowa State University with over 25 years of industry experience. He has written and presented at national AIA events, including Technology and Practice (TAP), chaired AIA Iowa professional development work, published numerous articles for Architosh, is the co-jury member for Architosh’s AIA BEST of SHOW awards program, and travels regularly to conferences around the world for Architosh as senior associate editor. He is the Coordinator for the Iowa State FLEx (Forward Learning Experience) - a mobile design STEM outreach program. He is leading a 3-year $2.1M research project for emerging technologies in affordable housing and workforce that includes 3D Construction Printing, Drones, and XR.
Research areas: Extended realities - XR, VR, and AR; simulation; CAD/CAM and BIM, prototyping, digital communications and design; impacts of 21st-century skills on K-16 students and workforce, human-centered design & human-computer interaction, technology and design thinking, phenomenology and perceptual cognition.
