Michael MACHNIC
For more than 25 years, Michael has provided thought leadership and innovative solutions in design, art and public space. A strategic thinker, he has led complex projects across North America in Seattle, Chicago, Atlanta and Toronto. Passionate about the power of design and leading with a balanced sense of curiosity and humour, Michael believes in the importance of fostering the next generation of creative talent.
His current practice is focused on the workplace and its transformation resulting from generational, technological and global pressures. Professional experience includes 15 years with Gensler at offices in the US and Canada. As a Design Director in Corporate Interiors, his clients included Gallup, IMAX, Holt Renfrew and Hermes. He has recently joined Arcadis/IBI Group as an Interior Design Team Lead for Ford Motor Company’s new 2.5 million square foot research & development facility in Dearborn Michigan.
Projects led by Michael have received numerous industry honors including awards from ARIDO, American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and the American Institute of Architects. His work has been discussed in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Interior Design Magazine and Public Art Review. Michael graduated from the School of Architecture at Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Architecture.
