Freddy CURIÉL

Italian Architect and Landscape Planner from Trieste, with an expertise in different fields of design at different scales. He started his bachelor architecture studies at IUAV (Venice, Italy) and KArch Royal Academy (Copenhagen, Denmark). Later on he gained his master degree in Architecture and Landscape Planning at Politecnico di Milano where he graduates with Honours, developing his thesis at TU Delft, Chair of Urbanism and Landscape.
In his career he collaborated in several architecture studios in Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Germany and Hong Kong. Based in Shenzhen since 2011, he carries out research and academic activities parallel to his design practice as Founder and Creative Director of LAPIS BUREAU design studio.
In 2012 he won the Young Professional Award for Sustainable Ideas, thanks to his research and visionary proposal for a sustainable management of the entire Pearl River Delta, awarded during the Rio+20 UN Conference in Rio de Janeiro.
In 2013 he has been appointed as the Co-Curator of the Italian Pavilion during the UABB 2013 in Shenzhen, and in 2019 as the Executive Production Manager for the Shenzhen-HongKong Bi-City Biennale “Eyes Of The City” by chief curator Carlo Ratti.
Freddy Curiél is a board member of IDA Italian Designers Association, a member in the jury for several design prizes, an invited speaker and lecturer in numerous events and institutes across China, and a proactive curator of public events and installations.
Freddy Curiél founded LAPIS BUREAU in 2017, a creative design agency based in Shenzhen that provides Landscape, Architecture, Products and Interiors Solutions through a wide range of design proposals, with a range of international clients in their portfolio such as BOSCH, Luxottica, Cassina, Giorgetti, Tencent, Huafa, MoMA Design Store and many others.
