Ban KUBBA

I’m a designer at heart, and architecture is in my blood. I’m a passionate advocate for design—good design moves me to tears, while bad design fuels my frustration. My day job excites me, and I have a hobby I truly enjoy, but architecture defines who I am. It’s so personal that I can’t imagine myself without it.
While architecture is my passion, art offers me a sanctuary. As a painter, I’ve exhibited my work internationally, finding true freedom in creating without the constraints of clients or contractors.
In my free time, I design and build houses to explore my ability to produce a product that reflects my architectural beliefs. It’s a personal journey where I can push boundaries and bring my design philosophy to life in a tangible way.
With over 32 years of experience, I am a nationally recognized expert in transportation architecture, specializing in transportation, infrastructure, and industrial projects. I currently serve as the Canada Market Sector Leader at AECOM. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of contributing to high-profile projects such as the $12.5 billion Regional Express Rail in Ontario, the Calgary Green Line, Stouffville Line, Evergreen Line LRT, Metro Dubai, and the Union Station Enhancement Project—the first Alliance project in Canada. I’ve collaborated with top local and international firms like WSP/A49, SNC-Lavalin, City of Vancouver, IBI, RMJM-Dubai, Parsons, CH2MHILL-Baghdad, and Woods Bagot, working on a broad spectrum of transportation, aviation, port, marine, and mixed-use projects across various procurement models.
For me, transportation architecture is more than just design—it’s the fusion of static structures with dynamic functionality. These projects aren’t merely backdrops; they shape how people experience a space and serve as the face of modern cities. Well-designed transportation architecture is crucial, as it represents a city’s first impression.
I’m driven by design innovation, supported by strong technical expertise, and thrive on turning ambitious ideas into functional, inspiring solutions. As a leader, I’m committed to fostering a culture of design excellence, consistently delivering projects that exceed expectations and create lasting impact.
