What prescient youthful memory relates to your present career?

I remember road trips through the diverse landscape of where I grew up and a thirst for travelling and experiencing new places.


What are three basic rules you learned from your mentors?

■ Step back and look at the bigger picture.
■ Listen first.
■ Be courageous in voicing your opinion.


What project launched your career?

The Ken Spencer Science Park at Telus World of Science, the Hastings Park Master Plan and Empire Fields and the Plateau Sports Park in Vancouver, BC, Canada are projects that launched my career.

All the time! I have a very eclectic and international playlist.


Do you work in PJs or three-piece suits?

I prefer the suit but I’m flexible on the number of pieces 😉

What is your most marked design quality?

Seeing the big picture and being able to chart a pat forward while not losing sight of the big picture.


How would you like your designs to go down in history?

As being loved and used by the communities.
As the place that they ask their friends to meet up at!


What peer quality do you most value?

Imagination!

Which project is the epitome of your work?

Haven’t found it yet!


How are your country of belonging’s values reflected in your work?

My respect for nature as well as my appreciation of the finer design touches and the small beauties as well as a refined view of details.


What always inspires you?

A dramatic natural landscape.


If a spell were to transform you into an object, by all means, what would you like to be, and why?

An airplane or a glider!


What is your favorite place in the world?

Atop a mountain, overlooking an ocean, an endless plain or the savannah.


If you could host any three guests, past or alive, over for dinner, who would you choose and what would you dare serving?

NOAM CHOMSKY, JACINDA ARDERN and the late ROBIN WILLIAMS.
