What prescient youthful memory relates to your present career?

 

Winning my first competition among 9000 participants when I was 25 years old, inspiration came from seeing this image while stuck in traffic!


What are three basic rules you learned from your mentors?

 

Passion,

Discipline.


What project launched your career?


In 2002 I designed this poster War/Peace for the United Nations. It was distributed around the world.

After 50 years of logos, corporate identity, my focus is now on designing humanitarian posters.

This «dove poster» WAR/PEACE designed in 2002 for the United Nations.


How are your country of belonging’s values reflected in your work?

Roman structure, Renaissance
aesthetics and humanity,
Milanese modernist design from 1950/1980 and the conceptual movement from 1980 to 2000.


What always inspires you?

Responsibility to improve lives through clear imagery and design for humanity.

Chaotic but oh-so-beautiful Italy…


What design or architecture project do you wish you would have thought of yourself?

The IBM corporate identity designed by Paul Rand.


If you could host any THREE GUESTS, past or alive, over for dinner, who would you choose and what would you dare serving?

 

Socrates, Shakespeare, Sigmund Freud, (sorry for Einstein)…Duck a l’orange!


What is your mantra?

 

Never give up!


What is your dream? THINK BIG!

 

I love the word Ubuntu by Nelson Mandela, which means dialogue, respect, empathy, less me more we.
My dream is to see this word become a reality.
