Located 15 km from the National Capital and gateway to the Gatineau Park, Old Chelsea is a link and a necessary passage between Ottawa-Gatineau and the Gatineau Park, which greats more than 3 million visitors every year.
Old Chelsea is not only a stage and a destination for the residents of the National Capital Region and its many tourists, but a springboard and a gateway to neighboring municipalities of the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais and the MRC of the Vallée-de-la-Gatineau.
Established in the heart of the Old Chelsea sector, the Square Old Chelsea is a residential, commercial, cultural and recreational tourism development project which, in time, will transform this sector into a veritable agritourism center and a lively district in winter and summer, satisfying the residents of the area as day trippers and tourists. There are restaurants, hotels, shops, a cultural program in the central square, and bicycle and outdoor equipment rentals, etc.
One of the objectives of the project is to position Old Chelsea and consequently the Outaouais at the national and international level thanks to the particularity of the colorful and artistic style of architecture of the Square (just as Cape Cod is recognized for its architectural style, certain villages of Prince Edward Island, etc.).
This is a $36 million project invested over five years.
