A leader in the Quebec and Canadian brewing industry, in 2021 McAuslan Brewing launched LOCK 4, its new micro-distillery and line of spirits. The new brand was created from scratch, from positioning and naming to identity development and product packaging. Located directly across from the historic Lock 4 on the banks of the Lachine Canal in Saint-Henri, the micro-distillery was named as a tribute to the rich heritage of the area and its residents.
With this historical dimension in mind, the LOCK 4 brand adopted a classic look, reflected in everything from the choice of typography and the form of its bottles to the use of archival images in its communication tools. Building a new spirits brand in a growing market is no small feat. It was decided to focus on McAuslan's product quality and credibility with a press and social media campaign. The strategy was to highlight the products, as well as the know-how and history of the micro-distillery.
