The bias of the project is to be part of a classic spirit with a touch of contemporaneity in order to represent the young family that lives in the residence. The layout plays with sobriety in lines and colors to match the Outremont context, but is daring with a distinctive choice of materials. The choice of the octagon-shaped pattern is inspired by the tiling of the interior entrance of the house and creates a tangible link between the interior and the exterior. The pale color of the paved surfaces energizes the facade and illuminates the conscripted side walk between two walls that minimizes sunlight.
The courtyard opens onto a relaxation area that incorporates a Japanese maple: the focal point of the landscape concept. The large presence of the swimming pool competes with the abundance of vegetation to create a garden atmosphere in the courtyard. The prefabricated swimming pool required special attention for the securing of the contours. The finishing of the edge of the swimming pool has been judiciously executed to create a smooth and aesthetic border which hides the joint between the swimming pool and the slabs. The black painted metal band creates a conceptual reminder with the steel palisade. The courtyard is a real oasis in town for the owners. In addition to providing a space to cool off, the garden is a soothing place that enhances the value of the house.
