Spring is back! And brings with it, the promise of a certain new liberty and activities. Finally, the wait is over! Performance venues are reopening from one region to the other and offer a long-awaited flavourful and colourful program to be discovered and experienced, in person, in live!
Among the venues that are reopening to the delight of citizens in great need of a culture in the flesh, the Théâtre Gilles-Vigneault in Saint-Jérôme will resume its activities on April 2 with the show L’origine de mes espèces by Michel Rivard.

In the heart of Laurentian mountains, the Théâtre Gilles-Vigneault’s architectural concept rethinks the theatrical experience and mirrors the effervescence of the city’s renaissance.
Atelier TAG and Jodoin Lamarre Pratte architectes wanted to create a show hall that would become a social catalyst and a major cultural and economical motor for the community.

The iconic and graphic project pays tribute to the region’s prominent wood industry. Wood is showcased in the elegant show hall’s design, the common luminous spaces as well as the most inviting outdoor areas.

Seen from the rue de la Gare, the majestic wooden canopy hosts the forecourt and lights up magically at nightfall. Festive and uniting, the theatre offers a poetic gateway to the Laurentians like no other.
The GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN 2019 jury rewarded the balanced nuances of wood tones and the spectacular aspect of the pavilion ceiling.

ABOUT THE DESIGNERS
ATELIER TAG
Atelier TAG is an architectural and research partnership founded in 1997 by Manon Asselin and Katsuhiro Yamazaki. The workshop reinterprets the civic function of architecture by studying the socio-cultural context in which a program takes place in order to create evocative spaces where the collective imagination can be expressed. The recommended design process focuses on materiality resulting in spatial simplicity where the built space evokes the sensory, cultural and semantic aspects of architecture. The exceptional quality of their architectural production is recognized for the careful attention to its construction, great clarity and project layout rigour.
