Leave and rebuild: that was the challenge Thierry and Pierre-Luc gave themselves in leaving Montreal to start an organic vegetable farm in the Laurentians. Along Route 117 and the twists and turns of Rouge valley, they found a wild land opening onto a mountainous, forest landscape – the perfect place to take care of the land, build a home and lay down roots in a new community.
A farm is a unifying project. One where we can either let families and friends roam in the vastness of the fields or gather them around a crowded dinner table. As such, Maison des Tulipes is a home to share. On one hand, it offers grand spaces to come together and celebrate, including an open living space comprised of a kitchen, dining room and living room. The open space’s southern orientation and its intimate view on the forest create the perfect setting for a large covered terrace that follows the length of the home – an extension of the space where festivities can grow. On the other hand, various rooms preserve intimacy, like the master bedrooms at the western extremity or the basement that opens onto the grand and lush English courtyard where guests can comfortably and leisurely enjoy their stay.
The most uninhibited space in the home is the one where, after months of work, we finally got to pay homage to the harvest: Pierre-Luc’s blue kitchen.
