The homeowners are originally from Europe, well-traveled and love good design. The woman of the house favored the idea of a Belgian farmhouse design for the exterior, but was not wedded to keeping this as a strong theme throughout. For the interior, she wanted something warm, simple, comfortable, and creative, with a highly functional kitchen being important as she cooks and bakes frequently.
We had the opportunity to work with the architect at a very early stage in the design process, and because it was new construction, it was an open slate. Together, we developed the space which was large and irregularly-shaped with great views and lots of natural light. Bespoke elements such as a rangetop station within a modified farm table and the free-standing planked stainless steel oven console were among the first elements designed.
