The courtyard of the St-Aubin high school in the colors of autumn
A PLACE THAT BRINGS PEOPLE TOGETHER
The landscaping project for the St-Aubin high school reflects this desire to create places to gather, to pose alone, in pairs or in groups, in a refined atmosphere but in connection with autumn nature. The landscape architect proposed geometric spaces with clean lines punctuated by a few concrete cubes here and there as well as vegetation in keeping with the layout.
THE INTERWEAVING OF THE LANDSCAPE WITH THE ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT
The cubes have identical dimensions to those of the tiles distinguishing the façade of the building and the floor covering also obeys this logic: we find this gradation of autumnal colors going from beige to clay red, dimensions that progressively degrade from the largest to the smallest. The landscape project shows a beautiful harmony with the architectural project.
VEGETATION TO COMPLEMENT THE URBAN FURNITURE
Vegetation is used sparingly but its presence is legitimized by its complementarity with the installed furniture: it completes the gathering spaces designed by the latter. Moreover, it punctuates the space along the building to complete the cladding on the façade. The landscape architect proposed tree species whose foliage mimics the colors of autumn: a subtle reminder of which we appreciate the effects at this season.
