GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 12th edition
An original design for a singular concept: an upscale bicycle shop with repair/tune-up facilities laid out in a race-track configuration that serves as a sporty showcase for products.
The superb execution divides the space in three: the tune-up zone, illuminated by the bay window that looks out on the street and the walk-in clientele; the boutique and its product display in the form of a velodrome; and the reception and service area with its drop ceiling and steel shelving. Excellent space management is achieved through the use of different levels and their clear delineation, as well as key elements such as enlarged, rounded columns and the angular central core.
The striking contrast of black and white smartly shifts the gaze onto the products to highlight them. A sober, minimalist, straightforward style that is nonetheless upbeat and welcoming, with a dynamic, optimized structure—not unlike that of a museum trail—that is efficient for clients.
Overall, the project achieves clarity, precision and functionality to meet its goal of providing professional cyclists impeccable service.
