Gold Mantis Business School
GPD/APDC – 11th edition
At the heart of Suzhou University’s Dushu Lake Campus is the Gold Mantis Building, home of the Business school. It is a large tribute to Harvard University and its German architecture, reproducing the shape of its buildings, their austere features and their red brick cladding. It has large open spaces, well-fenestrated and tastefully decorated, thoughtfully mixing ancient charm and modern elements. The use of multiple materials such as melamine, replacing traditional wood, and the choice of lighting, inspire concentration, creativity and comfort, while providing students with vibrant multifunctional spaces.
We note unique architectural features such as the origami ceiling of the multi- functional auditorium, the integrated furniture and textured walls of the conference room, and the imposing metal structure suspended in the living room. Not to mention the restaurant, with its bright yellow furniture, contrasting with the patterned floor and matching the hanging textures varying in shape and height. Gold Mantis, the university building combining modernity, personality and elegance that brings an inter- national vibe to the Dushu Lake campus.
