Des Enfantillages
GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 8th edition
To be a kid again!
The greatest joys are often those that are unexpected. This object falls under that category. Just when we might have been tempted to think there were enough children’s toys on this planet, along comes the refined project titled Des Enfantillages, by Shed espace créatif.
Born of the hands of two parents working in partnership with grandparents, this is a collection of toys unlike any conventional playthings we’re used to seeing. With their focus on quality rather than quantity, these objects are exquisitely handcrafted in Montreal out of durable materials, such as Russian birch plywood, wool, felt, leather, and cotton rope.
Each piece in the collection is personalized with delightful details and charming graphic touches. The wool sock on the blade of the hockey stick, the hand-painted faces on the memory game, the coloured felt balls of the pom pom slingshot, and the lined bag of the plywood doll’s house are just a few examples. The unifying theme? Colour, patterns, and characters to stimulate little imaginations.
They put a twist on old classics and will delight both young and old. These are toys that you’ll want to leave lying around and that will make you want to be a kid again!
