Boutik Suisse
GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 7th édition
Established since 1976, Boutik Suisse features collections of urban clothing for men and women. Looking to undertake major renovations and to renew their image, the business called upon the expertise of Hatem+D Architecture.
The guidelines for the development of the project were to highlight the wood elements present in the boutique, and remove its divisions. Hatem+D succeeded in creating an open and bright environment with clean, simple lines, where the beams and wood columns naturally articulate the different functions of the space. The changing rooms are located within a central unit and disappear thanks to their mirrored surface. Furthermore, in order to highlight the newest items, the unit slightly hides the sales area.
The jury applauded the reflective thinking behind the project, which enabled the firm to maximize the space, as well as the ingenuity that was used to showcase the products. The designer found some creative solutions: the storage concealed in furniture located across the store perimeter eliminates the back room and provides a larger sales area, and the elevated shelving sitting on a Plexiglas base enhances the open space effect. In addition, since red is the business brand color and had to be preserved, it became the accent color that emphasizes the white elements, the wood and concrete.
