GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 7th édition
Well established in the Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie neighborhood for 30 years, Le Rosemont got a makeover last spring. To the owners’ request, the space had to be modernized while preserving its soul. To this end, they called upon the talented hands of Quebec designer Zébulon Perron.
The rejuvenated decor includes cream-colored seats and walls, lacquered tables, stylized stools and a bar covered in brick effect cladding. In addition, the majestic wood slats ceiling is complemented by a lighting set that steals the show by winning the Lighting Device Award in the Product Design category.
Originally designed to conceal a ventilation duct bisecting the ceiling, the lighting fixture shines by its original and elegant design. It consists of fifteen light heads, suspended at irregular intervals to a track made of two interlocked copper sheets. The casing cleverly conceals the light source, providing an amber glow that warms the atmosphere.
The designer artfully created texture through reflection, noted the jury. The lighting apparatus forges a bond with the site’s history. It exudes a beautiful simplicity with the use of noble materials. An ingenious invention that gives this bar a fantastic atmosphere!
