Susan CHANG

Susan Chang is a partner and founding member of Shimoda Design Group, an award-winning architecture and design studio based in Los Angeles. Under her leadership, the firm has built a reputation for crafting dynamic spaces for leading global companies in entertainment, creative media, music, technology, and real estate. Grounded in the principles of place-making, the firm’s work fosters community, social interaction, productivity, wellness, and innovation.

Susan has always embraced the philosophy that design is fundamentally storytelling. From the smallest object to large-scale urban environments—"From a Spoon to the City"— every design must honor a history, inhabit cultural understanding and present a point of view.

Susan has been recognized as a design leader, receiving Interior Design Magazine’s HiP Award and being featured in the 2020 Women of Design by Interior Design. She is an active member of the Boston Architectural College Interior Architecture Advisory Board and serves as a recurring juror in American Society of Interior Designer’s Ones to Watch leadership development program.
