Site constraints: Site gradient (management of several levels of terrain). The layout of the set of steps and low walls required a great deal of level control, given the steep gradient of the terrain. During construction, geogrid reinforcement was required on several landings and a major backfill had to be made behind it.
.
Design guiding idea: Enhance this atypical terrain. As the house was a new build, everything had to be done on this plot. The young family wanted to integrate a pool without neglecting the incredible river view. The Futura pool was the natural choice to fit the slope of the land. A sheltered living area was also needed in the backyard, either for an afternoon siesta or an early evening aperitif with friends. When it came to the front of the house, the idea was to create simple, efficient access points. The biggest requests were for the backyard.
