GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 17th edition

The designer integrates the considerations of the site, space, and the occupants’ state of mind, using a “stillness in motion” and “simplicity as beauty” approach inspired by the aesthetics of the earth. This creates a dialogue between space and people, allowing residents to shed the complexity of urban and spatial exteriors and return to the natural and pure longings within. As an auxiliary space for socializing, the underground space represents the interests of the host. In a bamboo forest setting, friends gather over wine, appreciating the essence of poetry. The coming together of good friends often involves fine wine and beautiful poetry, sparking inspiration, adding charm, and nurturing friendships. The lofty hall, with its open space and carefully crafted framework, incorporates natural light and shadow, creating a serene, peaceful, and abundant atmosphere. Grid elements formed by wooden finishes serve as the spatial skeleton through arrays and turns, providing hierarchy and visibility, enhancing the experiential dimension within the rich variations. Stone cladding, bearing the attribute of time and carving memories, reinforces the presentation of natural textures through different proportional arrangements. It becomes a medium of communication between indoor and natural spaces, breaking spatial boundaries and expressing a naturally harmonious spatial mood. The courtyard serves as an extension of the domain. In Eastern culture, it emphasizes the concept of “no garden without stones,” with towering rocks seemingly descending from the heavens. Through clever ceiling designs, a dramatic effect is achieved. The combination of scenic stones subtly penetrates the space, borrowing views from one another. Meanwhile, the grass and trees sway in the wind, resembling the surging waves of the sea. If the gathering space is the stage of the home, then the study and bedroom serve as the backstage. They provide the patience to quietly observe life, constructing a balance between home artistry and functionality. This attention to the interplay of reality and illusion, the delicacy of life, and the lightness of the soul, marks the beginning of a harmonious living experience.
