Demers Beaulne is a firm offering accounting, tax and financial services. Pleased with the creation of their new branch in Brossard, Demers Beaulne commissioned us to refurbish their main office located in downtown Montreal. They were occupying two floors and wanted to keep just one. Their desire was to make the spaces attractive so that employees would want to come and work onsite in the big city. To achieve this, one of the company’s ideas was to devote a large part of the floor to a social space. This space would be a café/bistro, a bar (with a table for games), and a lunch area to inspire collaboration. They wanted a “WOW” effect! Small work rooms for concentration and teamwork were also created.
We assisted Demers Beaulne by producing options for redevelopment plans. We were then involved in every stage of their project, from design, furniture sourcing, plans, tendering, right through to construction. The concept was worked out by zone. In the office areas, we kept much of the existing furniture, changing only the carpet and paint. The existing mahogany-wood doors and frames inspired us to create colour variations in shades from terracotta to orange-pink.
In the reception area, we created new meeting rooms, again using existing mahogany wood. We combined it with purple, plants and refined furniture to create a boutique hotel atmosphere. Then, for the social space they named “Espace Tonik!”, we brought out our creativity with exposed and stretched-canvas ceilings, as well as original and impressive lighting. The space is full of contrasts, textures and colour accents. It opens onto the office’s largest conference room to accommodate large gatherings. Small glass alcoves, bathed in natural light, are fitted with bench seating and can be used both for lunch and for casual meetings throughout the day. Throughout the new design, rounded elements add softness and evoke the identity of the accounting firm.
