The new Projet Paysage office stands proudly in a bright space, offering panoramic views of Mount Royal. Renowned for its expertise in landscape architecture, the firm’s objective was to design a place conducive to collaboration, where the boundary between public and private space would be subtle while preserving the fluidity of the spaces. With a total surface area of 330 square meters and a limited budget, every inch of this space was optimized to meet users’ needs while preserving a clean aesthetic.
.
The conceptual approach adopted by the design team is both playful and accessible. Assembly details are carefully staged to create a captivating atmosphere. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by Projet Paysage’s discreet emblem, cleverly integrated into custom-made furniture adorned with plantings. Perforated walls in the reception and office areas invite play, while adding significant detail to each piece of furniture. The black walls framing the space enhance the outside view, transforming urban movements into a captivating scene. Moving forward, the central volume with its reflective surfaces attracts attention with its distinctive wooden frames. The walls are worked to express various textures, adding a tactile dimension to the space. Among the materials used, polycarbonate was chosen for its subtle play with refracting light. This frame serves both as a meeting point and a place for collaboration, opening onto a conference room, its diaphanous walls offering a filtered view of the exterior. At the heart of this island, like a threshold marking the transition between public and private space, a bright yellow passageway, the color of identity, energizes exchanges and the occupants’ journey.
.
Separate entrances for employees and visitors segment the space and facilitate circulation within the office. Individual workspaces are strategically positioned to benefit from unobstructed views of the landscape, with a view to democratizing access to natural light. Offices are grouped into a large block to encourage collaboration, while preserving privacy thanks to large planters. Halfway between the kitchen and the work areas, a long communal table occupies a central place, functioning at once as a place for exchange and brainstorming, an informal dining room and the seat of lively happy hours. This layout fosters interaction and encourages collaboration between team members.
The showcasing of raw materials such as concrete, poplar and Russian cherry plywood, punctuated by plant touches, reflects Projet Paysage’s sensitivity to the environment. Overall, this timeless working environment perfectly embodies Projet Paysage’s commitment to innovation and creativity, while providing a functional and inspiring workspace for its team.
