Designing for an emerging office: is a good chair worth a commute?
As we navigate the return to “normal” we consider amenities, perks, floorplan configurations. But often overlooked in this narrative is the ubiquitous chair — which tells us everything we need to know about the many ways we work.
The office chair has evolved from a simple seat to a highly engineered ergonomic machine. With increased collaboration the chair softened, and lounge seating and residential influences appeared in nearly every office. The chair has been a consummate sign of both disruption and innovation.
