Designed for Found’s current collection, the MIDI chair is our ideal of a solid wood chair. Designed with Jasper Morrison’s “Super Normal” design philosophy in mind, the idea behind the MIDI chair is to have an object that is free of artifice, minimalist and timeless, allowing for elegance in an obvious simplicity.
The first goal was to have a very comfortable chair that fits easily into the dining room. Its different colors, pervasive curves, arched back and slightly exaggerated proportions give it a soft and accessible look.
MIDI reimagines the silhouette of a classic mortise and tenon chair creating pleasantly familiar shapes and junctions that are surprising in their simplicity. The solid red oak gives it warmth and ensures that it will stand the test of time. The finesse of the assemblies reflects the rigorous work and know-how of the various Quebec furniture manufacturers we work with.
The objective of the MIDI chair is to offer a quality design, without any compromise, while remaining accessible to the greatest number. This ambition is made possible thanks to the combination of traditional woodworking methods and innovative machining processes, which significantly reduce costs and manufacturing time.
