Leftovers from the production process of medicine capsules and residues from the cellulose industries are transformed into a “packaging” of seeds that brings several benefits, ranging from protecting the seed against the sun, insects and fungi, or even providing nutrition through natural composition of capsules for germination and applied for reforestation on a scale by means of an automatic dispersion device (drone). The packaging that stores the biocapules (made with waste from the pharmaceutical and cellulose industries) uses the concept of design thinking in order to facilitate the visualization of the product internally (by means of a transparent band). Its size helps the ergonomics of handling and display on existing commercial shelves. Its composition in Kraft paper with a thin layer of recycled polymer allows the preservation of the biocapsules for a long period of time, protecting against moisture and oxygen, extending the useful life of the seed. The “zip look” of the package allows the consumer to open and close it without damaging its structure, thus allowing the user to use only the desired amount.
We brought technology in favor of the environment that directly contributed to the reuse of this waste from the drug industries in an alternative with an ESG bias, promoting the circular economy and its applicability on a large scale. Therefore, in addition to creating a new seed packaging that enhances their protection and germination, we also standardize their size and amount of nutrients for their germination process and seeds per capsule, enabling the development of an “automatic seeder” that can be coupled to drones in order to promote their remotely controlled dispersal, favoring access in remote, degraded areas and applying technology at scale.
