Pham Nhan THO
Pham Nhan Tho is an architect of the late 8x generation born after Đổi Mới – the renovation period when Vietnam began to integrate with the rest the world and experience tremendous economic growth. Like other young contemporary Vietnamese architects, he had an opportunity to access a more vibrant environment in the development process of the country. Despite graduating at the top of University of Architecture in Ho Chi Minh city – the most prestigious cradle of training architects of Southern Vietnam, Pham Nhan Tho turned down the offer to become a lecturer in order to immerse himself in a real-world setting where he believed there is more to learn.
Nearly a decade has passed since the foundation of atelier tho.A in 2014, architect Pham Nhan Tho seems to have carved his own path, promising but challenging. Leading a diverse team of architects, researchers, designers and craftsmen, he comes to build an architectural ecosystem towards a conservation approach. Being earnest and persistent with the designs is the condition that helps atelier tho.A, although still quite young, has engraved a distinctive mark on the map of Vietnamese architecture – which is on the way to its formation.
