GRANDS PRIX DU DESIGN – 16th edition
Discipline : Interior Design
Categories : Special Awards / Interior Design + Colour
Categories : Residence / Bathroom : Silver Certification
The owners wanted to restructure their master suite. Their request? A bathroom that opens up to the bedroom similar to that of hotels. We placed a low wall between the vanities and the bed and hung mirrors with light fixtures shaped to reference hotel suites. Additionally, they wanted a clean design where the calacatta marble would be highlighted, and to emphasize this color all of the fixtures are black.
The implementation was thought out so that the whole thing would fit together perfectly: the size of the marble floor in the shower, non-slip, the slopes for the linear drains, the widths to come and support the glass, the 45-degree ceramic cuts on each visible face of the low wall and the shower, the black tinted glass and the dimensions of the doors, the choice of hinges. As for the plumbing, we opted for two systems of faucets: one wall-mounted and one ceiling-mounted to create different scenarios. The suspended mirrors were provided in the structure, as well as the electrical wiring to give a clean and light aesthetic to each intervention.
Last site challenge: the project was completed during the pandemic. All plumbing fixtures and materials, imported from Italy and Toronto, were ordered on the last day before the first lockdown. Thus we were able to complete the project before the second lockdown!
