Named for its proximity to the REM, Station B reflects a company whose identity is grounded in plant life. Inspired by the metaphor of the tree and the interconnected ecosystem it represents, this multifunctional workplace finds its roots in a ground floor employee amenity space, a natural gathering place humming with activity while providing nourishment for both the body and the mind. It hosts a dining area, a lounge, gym, meeting spaces, and an area dedicated to corporate gatherings and events.
Stretching up three floors through the trunk of a broad staircase framed by farmers’ market crates overflowing with growing vegetation, the workspaces branch out into individual and group areas that line the windowed peripheries, recalling greenhouses via glass partitions filling the space with sunlight.
Lemay’s designers brought the vision of Nortera’s teams to life: The new headquarters is a place where different work styles are accommodated, and employees can increase their collaboration by breaking down silos and creating synergies between previously geographically dispersed teams. The variety of space typologies encourages health throughout a given workday by creating opportunities for social interactions and active movement, while also promoting wellness through biophilic and ambient elements. These range from natural materials like wood for a warm atmosphere and an optimized ventilation system flowing fresh air through greenery, curated lighting and furniture in shades of their product, and carpet textures and patterns which conjure bird’s-eye views of the farmers fields.
