renouvellement du hall et de l’entr\u00e9e de l’Institut d’\u00e9tudes p\u00e9dagogiques de l’Ontario (IEPO) s’appuie sur les valeurs fondamentales de l’Institut pour cr\u00e9er un espace inclusif et impressionnable. La conception int\u00e8gre les connaissances et les perspectives indig\u00e8nes dans le tissu du b\u00e2timent vieux de 40 ans afin de garantir des exp\u00e9riences spatiales positives pour tous.<\/p>\n<p>\u00c0 l’entr\u00e9e, une arcade de b\u00e2timent am\u00e9lior\u00e9e et un nouveau vestibule en verre cr\u00e9ent une marquise avec une signalisation claire qui promeut la marque de l’Universit\u00e9 de Toronto et de l’IEPO. Le panneau perfor\u00e9 avec un \u00e9cran \u00e9clair\u00e9 de l’int\u00e9rieur et des lettres OISE surdimensionn\u00e9es fait r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au cuivre indig\u00e8ne utilis\u00e9 par les groupes autochtones de la r\u00e9gion des Grands Lacs depuis des milliers d’ann\u00e9es. \u00c0 l’ombre de la marquise, des bancs en c\u00e8dre r\u00e9chauffent l’all\u00e9e en b\u00e9ton et offrent un endroit o\u00f9 s’asseoir et se d\u00e9tendre. Le c\u00e8dre a \u00e9t\u00e9 choisi pour son importance en tant que plante m\u00e9dicinale traditionnelle. Des roseaux et des hortensias indig\u00e8nes bordent le chapiteau, offrant un int\u00e9r\u00eat tout au long de l’ann\u00e9e. Des luminaires lin\u00e9aires dispers\u00e9s dans les jardini\u00e8res mettent en valeur l’am\u00e9nagement paysager et \u00e9clairent le chemin vers l’entr\u00e9e, facilitant l’orientation la nuit. L’\u00e9clairage vertical est int\u00e9gr\u00e9 \u00e0 chaque colonne ext\u00e9rieure pour ajouter de la dimension \u00e0 la fa\u00e7ade en b\u00e9ton.<\/p>\n<p>Le hall est le principal point d’acc\u00e8s aux ascenseurs qui desservent le b\u00e2timent, la biblioth\u00e8que de l’IEPO, les auditoriums, les caf\u00e9s et les salons. Cet espace de circulation cl\u00e9 a \u00e9t\u00e9 revigor\u00e9 par un nouveau bureau d’accueil et de s\u00e9curit\u00e9, un comptoir d’accueil pour faciliter l’orientation, un mur vivant de 387 pieds carr\u00e9s et des grappes de si\u00e8ges souples con\u00e7us pour des cercles de discussion. La disposition circulaire du mobilier symbolise la compl\u00e9tude et \u00e9tablit un ordre non hi\u00e9rarchique o\u00f9 les professeurs et les \u00e9tudiants peuvent se r\u00e9unir et discuter.<\/p>\n<p>Un point central de l’int\u00e9rieur du hall est une ceinture Wampum \u00ab\u00a0Dish with One Spoon\u00a0\u00bb du sol au plafond, qui symbolise l’importance du respect et de la responsabilit\u00e9 pour la terre partag\u00e9e. La ceinture wampum est construite avec des tubes d’acier blanc et violet, afin d’imiter les perles de coquillages tubulaires traditionnelles utilis\u00e9es par les artisans indig\u00e8nes \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle. Le sol et le plafond du hall d’entr\u00e9e s’inspirent des quatre directions et des corps c\u00e9lestes qui nous guident. Au plafond, des lumi\u00e8res forment le motif de l’amas d’\u00e9toiles des Pl\u00e9iades, tandis qu’une croix de couleur cuivre sur le sol correspond au nord, \u00e0 l’est, au sud et \u00e0 l’ouest. Under the shade of the marquee are benches made from cedar, warming up the concrete walkway and providing a place to sit and relax. Cedar was selected for its significance as a traditional medicine plant. Feather reed grass and Indigenous hydrangea line the marquee providing year-round interest. Linear light fixtures dispersed amongst the planters highlight the landscaping and illuminate the journey to the entry, aiding in wayfinding at night.
