L'installation d'exposition n'est donc pas un \u00e9difice iconique, mais plut\u00f4t vue comme un cadre pour un processus en cours.<\/p>\n<p>Les expositions sont organis\u00e9es par continents et par r\u00e9gions g\u00e9ographiques pour l'orientation g\u00e9n\u00e9rale des visiteurs. Au sein de ces r\u00e9gions, les expositions sont organis\u00e9es par th\u00e8me \u2013 40 expositions distinctes, chacune avec son propre concept de conservation. L'ensemble de l'exposition est donc r\u00e9solument non encyclop\u00e9dique, multiforme et aussi non lin\u00e9aire.<\/p>\n<p>Le projet a \u00e9galement n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 une \u00e9troite collaboration et une coordination technique avec les conservateurs. Au sein des collections du mus\u00e9e, une gamme extr\u00eamement large de mat\u00e9riaux et d'objets d'art (permanents\/grands et petits) n\u00e9cessitait une compr\u00e9hension approfondie de leur esth\u00e9tique et de leurs exigences de conservation. Des discussions avec des conservateurs ont permis une conception qui avait pour objectif non seulement la conservation et l'appr\u00e9ciation esth\u00e9tique des collections, mais aussi la flexibilit\u00e9 et la possibilit\u00e9 de changer fr\u00e9quemment la pr\u00e9sentation des objets.<\/p>\n<p>Pour ce projet, plus de 530 vitrines sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9es ont \u00e9t\u00e9 con\u00e7ues selon les normes de conservation des mus\u00e9es d'\u00c9tat allemands et tous les mat\u00e9riaux de la vitrine ont \u00e9t\u00e9 test\u00e9s \"Oddy\" et certifi\u00e9s \"Bemma\". Nous avons \u00e9galement con\u00e7u plus de 12 000 supports d'objets qui peuvent \u00eatre adapt\u00e9s aux exigences de pr\u00e9sentation sp\u00e9cifiques de chaque objet. Les zones de collections d'\u00e9tude visibles sont \u00e9quip\u00e9es de vitrines flexibles \u00e0 grande \u00e9chelle pour afficher la masse et l'\u00e9tendue des collections et des stations de m\u00e9dias pour une \u00e9tude approfondie.<\/p>\n","en":"<p>Located in the reconstructed Berlin Palace on Berlin\u2019s Museum Island, the newly opened Humboldt Forum is envisioned as an international forum of art, culture and science. Comprising over 170,000 square feet over two whole floors of the building, the permanent exhibitions of State Ethnological Museum and Museum of Asian Art present Germany\u2019s most comprehensive non-European collections \u2014 unique artistic and cultural artifacts from Africa, Asia, America and Oceania. Thematic exhibition modules, family areas, activity rooms, listening spaces, multimedia installations and visible study collections provide a multifaceted stage to engage in active dialogue with and between the world\u2019s cultures, to engage in a proactive dialog about the history and provenance of collections, and to celebrate the diversity of human experience and achievements.<\/p>\n<p>The collections of the Ethnology Museum and the Museum of Asian Art occupy over half of the Humboldt Forum\u2019s entire interior area and form the heart of this new institution. Far more than an aesthetic display of some 24,000 historic objects, the exhibitions were designed as a dynamic platform for intercultural discourse around historic and contemporary events and ideas.<\/p>\n<p>While our primary task was to design for the initial installations, including all casework design and detailing, our design also deliberately set the stage for change, through the future incorporation of new exhibitions and interventions and public programs. The exhibition installation is thus not an iconic edifice, but seen rather as a framework for an ongoing process.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibitions are organized by continents and geographical regions for the visitors\u2019 overall sense of orientation. Within these regions, the exhibitions are thematically curated\u201440 distinct exhibitions each with their own curatorial concept. The whole exhibition is thus decisively not encyclopedic, multifaceted and also non-linear.<\/p>\n<p>The project also required close collaboration and technical coordination with the curators. Within the museum\u2019s collections, an extremely wide range of materials and art objects (permanent\/large and small) required a deep understanding of their aesthetics and their conservation requirements. Discussions with curators allowed for a design that had as a goal not only the conservation and aesthetic appreciation of the collections, but also flexibility and the ability to frequently change the presentation of objects.<\/p>\n<p>For this project, over 530 speciality showcases were designed according to German State Museum Standards for conservation and all showcase materials were \u201cOddy\u201d tested and as well as \u201cBemma\u201d \u2013 certified. We also designed over 12,000 object mounts which can be adapted to each object\u2019s specific presentation requirements. Visible study collections areas are fitted out with large scale flexible showcases for displaying the mass and breadth of collections and media stations for in-depth study.<\/p>\n<p>The project provides a captivating and emotionally engaging immersive stage for flexible and adaptive messaging, able to connect deeply and emotionally into cultural heritages while also addressing contemporary perspectives and topics.
