Une collaboration interdisciplinaire assidue avec les ing\u00e9nieurs \u00e9lectrom\u00e9caniques de Stantec et les ing\u00e9nieurs en structure de NCK a \u00e9t\u00e9 requise pour coordonner la m\u00e9canique importante pour ce projet de laboratoire \u00e0 travers les puits m\u00e9caniques, salles m\u00e9caniques et toitures existants du pavillon. Le projet a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9 avec le consultant en Hygi\u00e8ne industrielle Contex pour la d\u00e9contamination de l\u2019amiante.  La strat\u00e9gie de transformation majeure au sein de ce b\u00e2timent a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e avec le Consultant en codes et normes GLT, et plusieurs demandes de mesures diff\u00e9rentes ont \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9par\u00e9es et accept\u00e9es par la RBQ.  <\/p>\n<p>Le Living Lab et les Maker Space sont au c\u0153ur du projet.  Une vitrine technologique a \u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9nag\u00e9e entre le Living Lab et le corridor public central, cr\u00e9ant ainsi une nouvelle une perc\u00e9e visuelle pour les usagers depuis le centre du pavillon jusqu\u2019aux fen\u00eatres ext\u00e9rieures. <\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9quipe a travaill\u00e9 avec la firme Soft dB, consultant en acoustique et vibrations. Les espaces g\u00e9n\u00e9rant un niveau de bruit \u00e9lev\u00e9 (Maker Space et A\u00e9rospace) sont \u00e9loign\u00e9s des salles de classes et des auditorium existants.  Des espaces tampons ont \u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9nag\u00e9s entre ces derniers.  Ces locaux, d\u2019o\u00f9 proviennent des bruits de machines-outils, d\u2019impacts de pi\u00e8ces de m\u00e9tal, et de machines testant des moteurs d\u2019aviation, sont dot\u00e9s d\u2019un sous-plancher acoustique con\u00e7u \u00e0 l\u2019aide de tests in situ.  Ces locaux sont munis d\u2019un plafond bouclier acoustique, limitant la transmission du son vers les \u00e9tages sup\u00e9rieurs.  Ces plafonds boucliers ne comportent aucune p\u00e9n\u00e9tration \u00e9letrom\u00e9canique et ont \u00e9t\u00e9 minutieusement coordonn\u00e9s au chantier avec l\u2019Entrepreneur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Groupe Pich\u00e9 et les ing\u00e9nieurs des sous-traitants.  <\/p>\n<p>Les couleurs \u00ab orang\u00e9 \u00bb des portes de bois et \u00ab gris fonc\u00e9 \u00bb des cadres d\u2019acier ont \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9es pour harmoniser le nouvel am\u00e9nagement avec le reste de l\u2019\u00e9tage et mettre en valeur les vitrines du Living Lab et des Maker Space. Leurs cloisons vitr\u00e9es ont \u00e9t\u00e9 sp\u00e9cialement con\u00e7ues sur mesure en collaboration avec le Groupe LMT pour limiter la transmission du son et comportent un double vitrage, un lignage de n\u00e9opr\u00e8ne et de l\u2019acier perfor\u00e9 entre les vitrages.  <\/p>\n<p>NFOE et la firme Bedcolab ont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 le mobilier des Maker Space, dot\u00e9 de tablettes amovibles permettent le rangement et l\u2019exposition des maquettes des \u00e9tudiants.  <\/p>\n<p>NFOE et la firme Bedcolab ont d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 le mobilier reconfigurable du laboratoire CME pour qu\u2019il soit aliment\u00e9 en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9 et gaz depuis des plaques de services suspendues au plafond.  Ce type de services \u2018\u2019plug and play\u2019\u2019 a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 utilis\u00e9 pour alimenter les tables de travail install\u00e9es devant les cloisons vitr\u00e9es du bureau des techniciens.<\/p>\n","en":"<p>As part of the \u201cLaboratories H10 Gina-Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science\u201d project, Concordia University has refurbished new teaching spaces dedicated to the Faculty of Engineering in the western part of the 10th floor of the Henry F. Hall to accommodate the Aerospace and Chemical &#038; Materials Engineering (CME) laboratories, two Maker Spaces, a Living Lab and research spaces.<\/p>\n<p>The Henry F. Hall Pavilion was built in 1966. The design of the project follows the design guidelines developed by Concordia to ensure the durability of the modernist style of the pavilion. An integrated design process was followed with Concordia&#39;s Planning and Building Management team during several workshops with users and engineers. Diligent interdisciplinary collaboration with electromechanical engineers from Stantec and structural engineers from NCK was required to coordinate the important mechanics for this laboratory project through the existing mechanical shafts, mechanical rooms and roofs of the pavilion. The project was carried out with the industrial hygiene consultant Contex for the decontamination of asbestos. The major transformation strategy within this building was developed with the Codes and Standards consultant GLT.<\/p>\n<p>The Living Lab and the Maker Spaces are at the heart of the project. A technological showcase has been arranged between the Living Lab and the central public corridor, thus creating a new visual breakthrough for users from the center of the pavilion to the exterior windows.<\/p>\n<p>The team worked with the firm Soft dB, consultant in acoustics and vibrations.  Spaces generating a high level of noise (Maker Space and A\u00e9rospace) have been moved away from existing classrooms and auditoriums, and buffer spaces were created between them. These premises, from which come the noise of machine tools, impacts of metal parts, and machines testing aviation engines, are equipped with an acoustic subfloor designed using in situ tests. These rooms are equipped with an acoustic ceiling designed to limit the transmission of sound to the upper floors. These shield ceilings have no electromechanical penetration and have been carefully coordinated on site with the General Contractor Groupe Pich\u00e9 and the engineers of the subcontractors. <\/p>\n<p>The \u201corange\u201d colors of the wooden doors and \u201cdark gray\u201d of the steel frames were used to harmonize the new layout with the rest of the floor and highlight the windows of the Living Lab and the Maker Spaces.  Their glazed partitions have been specially designed to measure in collaboration with the LMT Group to limit sound transmission and feature double glazing, neoprene lining and perforated steel between the glazings.<\/p>\n<p>NFOE and the firm Bedcolab have developed furniture for the Maker Spaces, equipped with removable shelves for storing and displaying student models.<\/p>\n<p>NFOE and the firm Bedcolab have developed reconfigurable furniture for the CME laboratory so that they are supplied with electricity and gas from service plates suspended from the ceiling. A technological showcase has been arranged between the Living Lab and the central public axis, thus creating a transparency that provides users with a depth of view from the heart of the pavilion to the exterior windows. The colors of the wooden doors and gray steel frames, present throughout the Pavilion, were used to highlight the windows of the Living Lab and the Maker Space in the new circulation areas. The entrances to the A\u00e9rospace and CME laboratories are located in the axis of the main corridors and their strategic positioning facilitates the orientation of users within the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Spaces generating a high level of noise (Maker Space and A\u00e9rospace) have been moved away from existing classrooms and auditoriums. Particular attention has been paid to the acoustics. They are equipped with a subfloor designed in collaboration with an acoustician using in situ tests, double acoustic glass partitions, and a ceiling designed to limit the transmission of sound to the upper floors.<\/p>\n<p>The spaces are arranged in such a way as to encourage collaboration between students. The Maker Spaces are largely glazed along the corridor and communicate with one another. Their furniture is custom-designed and allows storage and display of student models that are visible from the corridor. Sinks, workspaces, and chemical hoods are designed according to universal accessibility standards. The technicians' glass enclosed offices are centrally located, which allows them to have optimal visibility of the students.  The laboratories\u2019 electricity, gas and water services are accessible from service panels suspended from the ceiling.
