Malgr\u00e9 cela, RCCQ r\u00e9ussit de fa\u00e7on fabuleuse \u00e0 humaniser cette \u00e9chelle impressionnante, en grande partie gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l\u2019int\u00e9gration unique d\u2019un parc public des plus engageants. Surnomm\u00e9 Gateway Park en r\u00e9f\u00e9rence \u00e0 l\u2019ancienne porte Chaotian autrefois pr\u00e9sente sur le  site, c\u2019est le premier parc contemporain \u00e0 compter parmi les rares espaces verts de l\u2019univers majoritairement vertical de Chongqing.<br \/>\nBien que Gateway Park soit construit sur le toit d\u2019une galerie de cinq \u00e9tages, le traiter de simple toit vert serait m\u00e9conna\u00eetre \u00e0 quel point ce parc est admirablement reli\u00e9 au tissu urbain existant. Dot\u00e9 d\u2019une pente continue et toujours \u00e9gale (1:20), ce paysage qui s\u2019avance \u00e0 la rencontre des routes existantes, attire de fa\u00e7on naturelle et magn\u00e9tise les visiteurs d\u00e8s les trottoirs environnants. C\u2019est la topographie ondoyante de Chongqing qui a dict\u00e9 la g\u00e9om\u00e9trie 3D de ce parc et du toit sur lequel il repose, r\u00e9v\u00e9lant \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipe de nombreuses possibilit\u00e9s de conception uniques, et lui inspirant la s\u00e9rie d\u2019\u00e9l\u00e9ments d\u2019eau distinctifs du parc. Flirtant avec la gravit\u00e9, les eaux  chevauchent des puits de lumi\u00e8re inclin\u00e9s en d\u00e9valant la pente en cascade, et g\u00e9n\u00e8rent la r\u00e9fraction d\u2019une lumi\u00e8re scintillante dans le centre commercial situ\u00e9 en-dessous. Il en r\u00e9sulte un paysage constamment fluide et dynamique, \u00e0 l\u2019image des puissants fleuves qui l\u2019embrassent.<br \/>\nAlors que les visiteurs remontent ce r\u00e9seau d\u2019installations aquatiques, ils traversent des  stations qui rivalisent en diversit\u00e9 : coins-salons, ponts, pelouses de pique-nique, belv\u00e9d\u00e8res panoramiques, et  \u0153uvres d\u2019art public attrayantes des sculpteurs chinois Zheng Lu et Jiao Xiaotao. This was the question reflected upon by developer CapitaLand and the design team of Raffles City Chongqing, the mixed-use uber-development situated at the estuary of the famed Yangtze and Jialing Rivers. Adjacent to Chaotianmen, the birthplace and historic heart of Chongqing \u2013 now home to over 30 million people &#8211; the project\u2019s 8 ha podium accommodates 220,000 sq.m. of retail space, a transit hub and supports eight towers housing offices, residences and hotels. What makes RCCQ so innovative, however, is how it succeeds in humanizing this impressive scale \u2013 thanks, in large part, to its unique integration of an engaging public park.<br \/>\nDubbed Gateway Park \u2013 a fitting nod to the site\u2019s ancient Chaotian Gate, this is the first contemporary park \u2013 and one of only a handful of greenspaces \u2013 in Chongqing\u2019s vastly vertical Central Business District (CBD).<br \/>\nWhile Gateway Park is built atop the roof of a 5-storey galleria, labelling it a \u2018roof park\u2019 overlooks just how well connected it is to the existing urban fabric. Chongqing\u2019s undulant topography informed the 3D geometry of this park, and the roof upon which it rests. Sloping down at a constant 1:20 pitch to meet the existing roads, the Park draws visitors up organically from the surrounding sidewalks.<br \/>\nThis perpetually sloped landscape provided the team with many unique design opportunities and inspired the Park\u2019s signature series of water elements. Flirting with gravity, a series of fountains and pools cascade down steps and across slanted skylights, generating a shimmer of refracted light into the mall below. The result is a landscape that is constantly dynamic, always flowing, not unlike the mighty rivers that embrace it. As the park climbs along this network of water features, visitors are presented with a series of \u201cpauses\u201d, which include seating nooks, bridges, picnic lawns, scenic lookouts and two engaging works of public art designed by Chinese sculptors Zheng Lu and Jiao Xiaotao. This journey culminates in the one of RCCQ\u2019s most iconic and celebratory moments, the Interactive Fountain, situated on an event space overlooking the historic Chaotianmen Plaza and famed estuary.<br \/>\nThe Park\u2019s use of colour and materials deliberately favour beige tones which give the space a touch of warmth in Chongqing\u2019s notorious overcast climate. The planting design \u2013 a rich mix of local broadleaf and deciduous species \u2013 offers a year-round abundance of foliage, with bursts of seasonal color coming from locally-adapted jacarandas, crepe myrtles, elms and maples.<br \/>\nDespite acting as a commercial owner and operator, credit must be given to Capitaland\u2019s moral obligation to also serve the city of Chongqing by offering a fully public park as a compliment to their landmark mixed-use hub. Gateway Park is a generous gift to the city of Chongqing, particularly in a CBD that has been increasingly threatened by sterile architecture and disappearing greenspaces. As the park climbs along this network of water features, visitors are presented with a series of \u201cpauses\u201d, which include seating nooks, bridges, picnic lawns, scenic lookouts and two engaging works of public art designed by Chinese sculptors Zheng Lu and Jiao Xiaotao.
