New pedestrian promenades, a direct connection with the water, including the St. Lawrence River, a variety of landscapes, public spaces accessible to all, increased people-centred mobility, resilient infrastructures, rehabilitated heritage elements and distinctive visual characteristics are all aspects that will henceforth represent Parc Jean-Drapeau and anchor it in the 21st century.<\/p>\n<p>Several underutilized spaces, dedicated to parking or intended solely for event mobilization, will be redeveloped as public places: renaturalized or greened to invite open-air activities and leisure while maintaining flexibility of use. These renewed spaces will respond to needs related to accessibility, inclusiveness and sociability expressed by Montrealers, particularly for residents of neighborhoods near the park. These punctuated redevelopment projects will enable the park to become a facilitator of physical activity by encouraging active transportation and sports activities year-round.<\/p>\n<p>By adopting the best practices in sustainable development, conservation, planning, design, and mobility, while incorporating the spirit of reconciliation and an indigenous perspective, this master plan orchestrates a significant change of direction in the identity and management of the territory of Parc Jean-Drapeau.
