\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 du cimeti\u00e8re d&rsquo;Azimpur \u00e0 Lalbagh, une zone historique \u00e9tablie par les Moghols il y a plus de 400 ans, la mosqu\u00e9e Mayor Mohammad Hanif Jame est un espace seuil. Une grande partie de la nouvelle conception a \u00e9t\u00e9 inspir\u00e9e par la mosqu\u00e9e Khan Mohammad Mridha pr\u00e8s de Lalbagh et la mosqu\u00e9e Azam Shah construite par les moghols dans le fort de Lalbagh.<br \/>\nLa conception actualis\u00e9e s&rsquo;\u00e9carte des mosqu\u00e9es traditionnelles, tant sur le plan physique que philosophique, en combinant des id\u00e9es anciennes et nouvelles dans un concept contemporain. L&rsquo;une des principales caract\u00e9ristiques d\u00e9riv\u00e9es de la mosqu\u00e9e moghole est le \u00ab\u00a0Shaan\u00a0\u00bb, une sorte de terrasse \u00e9tendue ouverte sur le ciel, attach\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;entr\u00e9e du hall principal. Le Shaan offre un espace suppl\u00e9mentaire pour accueillir un grand nombre de fid\u00e8les lors des grands rassemblements de la pri\u00e8re du Jame le vendredi, des pri\u00e8res de l&rsquo;A\u00efd et d&rsquo;autres occasions sp\u00e9ciales. \u00c0 tout autre moment, il sert d&rsquo;espace social pour la communaut\u00e9.<br \/>\nLe concept principal de la mosqu\u00e9e est de cr\u00e9er une fen\u00eatre entre la vie terrestre et la vie c\u00e9leste de mani\u00e8re syst\u00e9matique et po\u00e9tique. Much of the new design was inspired by the Khan Mohammad Mridha Mosque near Lalbagh and the Azam Shah Mosque built by the Mughals in the Lalbagh Fort.<br \/>\nThe updated design serves as a departure from traditional mosques in both physical and philosophical designs, combining old and new ideas into a contemporary concept. A key feature derived from the Mughal mosque was the \u201cShaan\u201d \u2013 a type of extended open-to-sky terrace attached to the entrance of the main hall. The Shaan provides additional space to accommodate large numbers of devotees during larger gatherings of Jame prayer on Fridays, Eid prayers and other special occasions. Any other time, it acts as a social space for the community.<br \/>\nThe main concept of the Mosque is to create a window between terrestrial life and celestial life in a systematic and poetic way. People entering the Shaan from the south road pass through what is essentially a veil between realms where they are met with the main hall to the east and a bridge of glass and steel framing the graveyard to the north. The design concept of the mosque was to create a transparent window between celestial and terrestrial life. A key feature derived from the Mughal mosques was the \u201cShaan\u201d, which attached to the entrance of the main hall on the east at the entrance. People entering the shaan from the south road pass through what is essentially a veil between realms where they meet with the main hall to the east and a bridge of glass and steel framing the graveyard to the north. As structural system, mushroom column of concrete has been used in the main prayer hall of the mosque which gives beam free flat slab. The glazed concrete of roof and non-glazed concrete has been used intentionally to create the reflection of light in the prayer hall. Floor of the prayer hall has been lighted up by using a special type of stone. The mehrab has been made of frosted glass to allow the sun light to reflect on it. The window on the south looking road has been screened by brick net to reduce the temporal connection whereas window on the north connecting graveyard clearly open for celestial indulgence. The building in the east of the bridge contains the women\u2019s prayer space and management office on the upper floor with the ablution space on the ground floor.
