Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit dans un espace destin\u00e9 principalement \u00e0 parking souterrain, o\u00f9 il y existait d\u00e9j\u00e0 un puissant squelette structural en b\u00e9ton.<br \/>\nLe projet essaie de r\u00e9soudre deux questions toujours cruciales quand il s\u2019agit des interventions dans des structures existantes: la strat\u00e9gie d\u2019occupation et la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de devenir visible, \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 qu\u2019il s\u2019agit d\u2019un b\u00e2timent enterr\u00e9. \u00c0 la premi\u00e8re question, le projet r\u00e9pond introduisant un ensemble d\u2019enceintes relativement autonomes qui coexistent pacifiquement: deux salles d\u2019exposition, un auditorium, des ateliers culturels, l\u2019administration et la caf\u00e9t\u00e9ria, qui prennent leur place dans les espaces disponibles, sans \u00eatre pourtant soumis \u00e0 la structure existante. Pour r\u00e9ussir \u00e0 rendre l\u2019intervention visible, une grande marquise est propos\u00e9e. Celle-ci couvrira les syst\u00e8mes d\u2019acc\u00e8s en permettant les flux des visiteurs: un espace public, une petite place couverte.<br \/>\nLe projet propose la superposition de deux mondes: un monde int\u00e9rieur, excav\u00e9, qui est abord\u00e9 avec une architecture cart\u00e9sienne, orthogonale, une architecture de la permanence. L\u2019autre est un monde ext\u00e9rieur repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par la marquise, qui r\u00e9pond aux contingences et aux limitations: une architecture qui donne r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 la volont\u00e9 d\u2019une \u00e9poque et \u00e0 une sensibilit\u00e9 contemporaine. Les deux mondes se connectent \u00e0 travers d\u2019un canal de lumi\u00e8re naturelle.<\/p>\n","en":"<p>CaixaForum represents the potential of fighting against difficulty, against (pre-existing) constraints. It is built mainly inside a prevailing concrete skeleton that was meant to be an underground parking area.<br \/>\nThe project coherently resolves two crucial issues when dealing with existing buildings: accommodating the new uses and making them visible (even being underground).<br \/>\nThe first issue is approached by placing a set of fairly autonomous volumes inside the given grid, looking for a pacific coexistence: two exhibition rooms, an auditorium and cultural workshops. These new volumes are accommodated to the available space without being dominated by the existing structure. Visibility is provided by an exterior canopy that covers the access systems and receives all visitors\u2019 flows: a public space, a small covered plaza.<br \/>\nThe project conceives the superposition of two worlds: an inner world, excavated, solved with a Cartesian, orthogonal architecture, an architecture made to last forever, to remain.<br \/>\nThe exterior world is represented by a canopy that responds to the contingences, to the limitations, to the bonds and constrictions: this architecture gives response to the willingness of an era and to contemporary sensitivity.<br \/>\nBoth worlds are connected by a vertical channel of natural light. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 construit dans un espace destin\u00e9 principalement \u00e0 parking souterrain, o\u00f9 il y existait d\u00e9j\u00e0 un puissant squelette structural en b\u00e9ton.<br \/>\nLe projet essaie de r\u00e9soudre deux questions toujours cruciales quand il s\u2019agit des interventions dans des structures existantes: la strat\u00e9gie d\u2019occupation et la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 de devenir visible, \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 qu\u2019il s\u2019agit d\u2019un b\u00e2timent enterr\u00e9. \u00c0 la premi\u00e8re question, le projet r\u00e9pond introduisant un ensemble d\u2019enceintes relativement autonomes qui coexistent pacifiquement: deux salles d\u2019exposition, un auditorium, des ateliers culturels, l\u2019administration et la caf\u00e9t\u00e9ria, qui prennent leur place dans les espaces disponibles, sans \u00eatre pourtant soumis \u00e0 la structure existante. Pour r\u00e9ussir \u00e0 rendre l\u2019intervention visible, une grande marquise est propos\u00e9e. Celle-ci couvrira les syst\u00e8mes d\u2019acc\u00e8s en permettant les flux des visiteurs: un espace public, une petite place couverte.<br \/>\nLe projet propose la superposition de deux mondes: un monde int\u00e9rieur, excav\u00e9, qui est abord\u00e9 avec une architecture cart\u00e9sienne, orthogonale, une architecture de la permanence. L\u2019autre est un monde ext\u00e9rieur repr\u00e9sent\u00e9 par la marquise, qui r\u00e9pond aux contingences et aux limitations: une architecture qui donne r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 la volont\u00e9 d\u2019une \u00e9poque et \u00e0 une sensibilit\u00e9 contemporaine. Les deux mondes se connectent \u00e0 travers d\u2019un canal de lumi\u00e8re naturelle.<\/p>\n","en":"<p>CaixaForum represents the potential of fighting against difficulty, against (pre-existing) constraints. It is built mainly inside a prevailing concrete skeleton that was meant to be an underground parking area.<br \/>\nThe project coherently resolves two crucial issues when dealing with existing buildings: accommodating the new uses and making them visible (even being underground).<br \/>\nThe first issue is approached by placing a set of fairly autonomous volumes inside the given grid, looking for a pacific coexistence: two exhibition rooms, an auditorium and cultural workshops. These new volumes are accommodated to the available space without being dominated by the existing structure. Visibility is provided by an exterior canopy that covers the access systems and receives all visitors\u2019 flows: a public space, a small covered plaza.<br \/>\nThe project conceives the superposition of two worlds: an inner world, excavated, solved with a Cartesian, orthogonal architecture, an architecture made to last forever, to remain.<br \/>\nThe exterior world is represented by a canopy that responds to the contingences, to the limitations, to the bonds and constrictions: this architecture gives response to the willingness of an era and to contemporary sensitivity.<br \/>\nBoth worlds are connected by a vertical channel of natural light.
