They are often unattractive, downgrading the overall urban impression. <\/p>\n<p>Our idea of cladding the unsightly pedestrian bridges with aesthetic, power generating photovoltaic modules and converting them into appealing city spots is not only sustainable but creates sculptural diversity that becomes a cityscape eye-catcher. <\/p>\n<p>We propose more than just various design objects \u2013 we offer a system of sustainable urban structures with distinguishable visual appearance.<\/p>\n<p>This sustainable concept has been created for existing footbridges in Chinese metropolises but it is just as well to apply for any new structures in any site worldwide. Les passerelles pi\u00e9tonnes peuvent servir de points de rep\u00e8re dans la ville : &#34;Rencontrons-nous sous la passerelle de la pagode&#34;.<\/p>\n<p>Nous ne proposons pas seulement divers objets de design &#8211; nous offrons un syst\u00e8me de structures urbaines durables avec un aspect visuel distinct. Les modules photovolta\u00efques \u00e0 couche mince appliqu\u00e9s produisent de l&#39;\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 dans les conditions m\u00e9t\u00e9orologiques et les sites les plus d\u00e9favorables. Ils sont tr\u00e8s l\u00e9gers et r\u00e9sistants. <\/p>\n<p>Deux maquettes qui ont \u00e9t\u00e9 expos\u00e9es \u00e0 Shanghai et \u00e0 Munich d\u00e9montrent la faisabilit\u00e9 du syst\u00e8me, qui permet de construire des structures efficaces et fiables pour diff\u00e9rentes zones climatiques.<\/p>\n<p>Les stations de recharge pour voitures et v\u00e9los \u00e9lectriques situ\u00e9es sous les passerelles utilisent directement l&#39;\u00e9nergie solaire produite localement. Des structures photovolta\u00efques accrocheuses permettent aux utilisateurs de localiser facilement les points de recharge et de partage en ligne. <\/p>\n","en":"<p>Like many other metropolises, Beijing has a great number of footbridges traversing busy arteries.<br \/>\nThey are often unattractive, downgrading the overall urban impression. <\/p>\n<p>Our idea of cladding the unsightly pedestrian bridges with aesthetic, power generating photovoltaic modules and converting them into appealing city spots is not only sustainable but creates sculptural diversity that becomes a cityscape eye-catcher. The footbridges can serve as landmarks in the city: \u201cLet\u00b4s meet under the Pagoda Footbridge\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>We propose more than just various design objects \u2013 we offer a system of sustainable urban structures with distinguishable visual appearance. The applied thin-film photovoltaic modules produce electricity under the most unfavorable weather and site conditions. They are very light and resilient. <\/p>\n<p>Two mockups that were on show in Shanghai and Munich demonstrate the feasibility of the system, which allows constructing effective und reliable structures for different climatic zones.<\/p>\n<p>E-car and e-bike charging stations under the footbridges directly utilize the locally generated solar power. Eye-catching PV structures make the e-charging and e-sharing points easy locatable for the users. <\/p>\n<p>The system has been developed for existing structures but it is just as well to apply for new structures. Electricity harvested from the sun can be used on the spot for the illumination, the elevators, escalators or air-condition.
