Le parcours du patient commence d\u00e8s l\u2019approche des portes vitr\u00e9es de la clinique, qui permettent aux patients qui s\u2019approche de voir la zone de r\u00e9ception avant de franchir le seuil.\u00a0 Le confort (physique, \u00e9motionnel et psychologique est au centre de toutes d\u00e9cisions de design).\u00a0 Le graphisme joue un r\u00f4le important avec l\u2019utilisation d\u2019une signalisation intuitive \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019icones illustratifs, ainsi que le texte en deux langues.\u00a0 L\u2019\u00e9clairage dans les salles d\u2019examen est ajustable, avec contr\u00f4le individuel.\u00a0 La salle d\u2019attente contient des ameublements de diff\u00e9rentes tailles et fonctions, pour que tous participants puissent se mettre \u00e0 l\u2019aise.\u00a0 L\u2019atmosph\u00e8re est d\u00e9cid\u00e9ment plus th\u00e9rapeutique que m\u00e9dicale.<\/p>\n<p>Dans une clinique traditionnelle, la fin de l\u2019examen marque la fin de la visite du patient. Cependant, \u00e0 l\u2019ISMI, deux options suppl\u00e9mentaires existent. Premi\u00e8rement, le patient peut voir imm\u00e9diatement un radiologue apr\u00e8s sa visite et recevoir son diagnostic, ce qui \u00e9vite une autre visite quelques jours plus tard. Deuxi\u00e8mement, une salle de d\u00e9tente offre un espace o\u00f9 le patient peut prendre son souffle apr\u00e8s une proc\u00e9dure difficile ou \u00e9mouvante \u2013 pas n\u00e9cessaire de quitter imm\u00e9diatement.<\/p>\n<p>Pour but de cr\u00e9er une atmosph\u00e8re de confidentialit\u00e9, les traitements acoustiques entre les pi\u00e8ces offrent des endroits priv\u00e9s pour toutes conversations intimes et\/ou sensibles.\u00a0 Des espaces de travail sont offerts pour les professionnels, pour qu\u2019eux aussi, se sentent \u00e0 l\u2019aise de rester plus longtemps.<\/p>\n<p>Avant m\u00eame que ce projet ne soit achev\u00e9, notre client a pu utiliser notre pr\u00e9sentation du concept de design pour attirer des talents exceptionnels \u2013 certains des meilleurs radiologues de la ville travaillent maintenant \u00e0 l\u2019ISMI.\u00a0 Bien que la plupart du personnel m\u00e9dical de l\u2019ISMI partage leur temps entre l\u2019h\u00f4pital et la clinique, la grande majorit\u00e9 des professionnels choisissent de travailler \u00e0 la clinique plut\u00f4t qu\u2019aller \u00e0 la maison, gr\u00e2ce a l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re convivial et confortable.<\/p>\n<p>En tout, ce projet est un succ\u00e8s pour tous ceux qui y fr\u00e9quentent.<\/p>\n","en":"<p>During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, our client, a leading radiologist at McGill University Health Centre, recognized an increased distrust of the healthcare system and therefore, a discomfort in his patients. The pandemic had exacerbated an already existing, underlying fear of medical procedures and the professionals administering them. Our client\u2019s goal was to build a place where patients would want to come because they know they would receive state-of-the-art care, and an unparalleled experience that would banish their anxieties and promote healing.<\/p>\n<p>Promoting an inclusive environment is paramount to the client, who had recognized that negative experiences disproportionately affect marginalized people. The clinic needed to eliminate the boundaries that typically prevent these groups from accessing timely, quality care. For our client, the objective was for everyone who comes to the Institute for Specialized Medicine &amp; Intervention (ISMI) to leave better than when they came \u2013 this needed to be true of the staff as well.<\/p>\n<p>ISMI was designed to emulate a spa-like experience. The patient journey begins at the approach to the front doors of the clinic, which are full height glazed doors; these enable the approaching patient to view the reception area before stepping in. Throughout the space, the design team has undertaken great diligence in developing intuitive wayfinding using illustrative icons for signage that ensure there is no language barrier. The waiting area is designed so that the patient has several options of where and how they would like to sit. The exam rooms are designed with adjustable lighting, individual climate control, and elevated finishes to create a therapeutic, rather than medical atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>In a traditional clinic the exam would have marked the end of the patient\u2019s visit. However, at ISMI two additional options exist. Firstly, the patient can see a radiologist immediately following their visit and receive their diagnosis. Secondly, a relaxation room provides a space for the patient to decompress following a difficult procedure.<\/p>\n<p>For optimal privacy, double-glazed office fronts provide acoustic separation from the main corridor, enabling private and sensitive conversations to take place with dignity and in confidence. Concealed power is provided at millwork locations along the windows to give staff options on where they would like to work.<\/p>\n<p>Before this project was even completed our client was able to use our design package and visualizations to attract exceptional talent \u2013 some of the best radiologists in the city are now working at ISMI as a result. Even though most of the medical staff at ISMI split their time between the hospital and the clinic, while on call they prefer to come to the clinic to do their work instead of staying at home. Le parcours du patient commence d\u00e8s l\u2019approche des portes vitr\u00e9es de la clinique, qui permettent aux patients qui s\u2019approche de voir la zone de r\u00e9ception avant de franchir le seuil.\u00a0 Le confort (physique, \u00e9motionnel et psychologique est au centre de toutes d\u00e9cisions de design).\u00a0 Le graphisme joue un r\u00f4le important avec l\u2019utilisation d\u2019une signalisation intuitive \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019icones illustratifs, ainsi que le texte en deux langues.\u00a0 L\u2019\u00e9clairage dans les salles d\u2019examen est ajustable, avec contr\u00f4le individuel.\u00a0 La salle d\u2019attente contient des ameublements de diff\u00e9rentes tailles et fonctions, pour que tous participants puissent se mettre \u00e0 l\u2019aise.\u00a0 L\u2019atmosph\u00e8re est d\u00e9cid\u00e9ment plus th\u00e9rapeutique que m\u00e9dicale.<\/p>\n<p>Dans une clinique traditionnelle, la fin de l\u2019examen marque la fin de la visite du patient. Cependant, \u00e0 l\u2019ISMI, deux options suppl\u00e9mentaires existent. Premi\u00e8rement, le patient peut voir imm\u00e9diatement un radiologue apr\u00e8s sa visite et recevoir son diagnostic, ce qui \u00e9vite une autre visite quelques jours plus tard. Deuxi\u00e8mement, une salle de d\u00e9tente offre un espace o\u00f9 le patient peut prendre son souffle apr\u00e8s une proc\u00e9dure difficile ou \u00e9mouvante \u2013 pas n\u00e9cessaire de quitter imm\u00e9diatement.<\/p>\n<p>Pour but de cr\u00e9er une atmosph\u00e8re de confidentialit\u00e9, les traitements acoustiques entre les pi\u00e8ces offrent des endroits priv\u00e9s pour toutes conversations intimes et\/ou sensibles.\u00a0 Des espaces de travail sont offerts pour les professionnels, pour qu\u2019eux aussi, se sentent \u00e0 l\u2019aise de rester plus longtemps.<\/p>\n<p>Avant m\u00eame que ce projet ne soit achev\u00e9, notre client a pu utiliser notre pr\u00e9sentation du concept de design pour attirer des talents exceptionnels \u2013 certains des meilleurs radiologues de la ville travaillent maintenant \u00e0 l\u2019ISMI.\u00a0 Bien que la plupart du personnel m\u00e9dical de l\u2019ISMI partage leur temps entre l\u2019h\u00f4pital et la clinique, la grande majorit\u00e9 des professionnels choisissent de travailler \u00e0 la clinique plut\u00f4t qu\u2019aller \u00e0 la maison, gr\u00e2ce a l\u2019atmosph\u00e8re convivial et confortable.<\/p>\n<p>En tout, ce projet est un succ\u00e8s pour tous ceux qui y fr\u00e9quentent.<\/p>\n","en":"<p>During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, our client, a leading radiologist at McGill University Health Centre, recognized an increased distrust of the healthcare system and therefore, a discomfort in his patients. The pandemic had exacerbated an already existing, underlying fear of medical procedures and the professionals administering them. Our client\u2019s goal was to build a place where patients would want to come because they know they would receive state-of-the-art care, and an unparalleled experience that would banish their anxieties and promote healing.<\/p>\n<p>Promoting an inclusive environment is paramount to the client, who had recognized that negative experiences disproportionately affect marginalized people. The clinic needed to eliminate the boundaries that typically prevent these groups from accessing timely, quality care. For our client, the objective was for everyone who comes to the Institute for Specialized Medicine & Intervention (ISMI) to leave better than when they came \u2013 this needed to be true of the staff as well.<\/p>\n<p>ISMI was designed to emulate a spa-like experience. The patient journey begins at the approach to the front doors of the clinic, which are full height glazed doors; these enable the approaching patient to view the reception area before stepping in. Throughout the space, the design team has undertaken great diligence in developing intuitive wayfinding using illustrative icons for signage that ensure there is no language barrier. The waiting area is designed so that the patient has several options of where and how they would like to sit. The exam rooms are designed with adjustable lighting, individual climate control, and elevated finishes to create a therapeutic, rather than medical atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>In a traditional clinic the exam would have marked the end of the patient\u2019s visit. However, at ISMI two additional options exist. Firstly, the patient can see a radiologist immediately following their visit and receive their diagnosis. Secondly, a relaxation room provides a space for the patient to decompress following a difficult procedure.<\/p>\n<p>For optimal privacy, double-glazed office fronts provide acoustic separation from the main corridor, enabling private and sensitive conversations to take place with dignity and in confidence. Concealed power is provided at millwork locations along the windows to give staff options on where they would like to work.<\/p>\n<p>Before this project was even completed our client was able to use our design package and visualizations to attract exceptional talent \u2013 some of the best radiologists in the city are now working at ISMI as a result. Even though most of the medical staff at ISMI split their time between the hospital and the clinic, while on call they prefer to come to the clinic to do their work instead of staying at home.
