Il s\u2019inscrit dans le grand projet de r\u00e9fection et de mise \u00e0 niveau de la gare VIA Rail d\u2019Ottawa, inaugur\u00e9e en 1966 et class\u00e9e patrimoniale en 1996. Celui-ci vise \u00e0 r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 la venue du train \u00e0 grande fr\u00e9quence, avec \u00e0 son bord une plus grande client\u00e8le d\u2019affaires. Ce projet marque \u00e9galement le d\u00e9but d'un r\u00e9am\u00e9nagement ax\u00e9 sur l'accessibilit\u00e9 universelle des passagers, gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 l'ajout d'ascenseurs qui facilitent la circulation des voyageurs, ce qui appuie l\u2019engagement de VIA Rail envers la mobilit\u00e9 durable. <\/p>\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9difice de style international se distingue par l\u2019utilisation du verre, de l\u2019acier et du b\u00e9ton brut avec un grand hall vitr\u00e9 duquel partent les ailes est et ouest. Le design int\u00e9rieur du salon d\u2019affaires vient rendre hommage \u00e0 cette architecture remarquable, tout en offrant une exp\u00e9rience renouvel\u00e9e aux usagers, dans un espace deux fois plus grand que celui d\u2019origine. Il propose aussi une signature nouvelle avec une utilisation judicieuse de la couleur corporative, se posant ainsi en mod\u00e8le pour les autres gares canadiennes. <\/p>\n<p>Pour illuminer g\u00e9n\u00e9reusement l\u2019espace, de grands percements ont \u00e9t\u00e9 faits dans le mur tourn\u00e9 vers le chemin de fer. Ces fen\u00eatres d\u2019envergure, ex\u00e9cut\u00e9es avec soin dans le respect de l\u2019architecture et de la v\u00e9g\u00e9tation existante, viennent rythmer l\u2019espace et offrent aux usagers des vues sur l\u2019activit\u00e9 ferroviaire.<\/p>\n<p>Le lounge a \u00e9t\u00e9 s\u00e9par\u00e9 en diff\u00e9rentes zones d\u2019attente qui r\u00e9pondent aux besoins exprim\u00e9s par la client\u00e8le. On y retrouve un centre d\u2019affaires o\u00f9 il est possible de travailler en toute qui\u00e9tude et tranquillit\u00e9; des fauteuils confortables et spacieux pour se reposer; des alc\u00f4ves et des espaces en retrait pour plus d\u2019intimit\u00e9; un espace alimentaire avec des encas en libre-service; et une section avec des \u00e9crans diffusant l\u2019actualit\u00e9 et les informations relatives aux trains. Une salle d\u00e9di\u00e9e aux groupes fait \u00e9galement partie de la programmation et est disponible pour les r\u00e9servations.<\/p>\n<p>Les mat\u00e9riaux sont durables et nobles, dans l\u2019esprit du b\u00e2timent d\u2019origine, mais \u00e9galement robustes et faciles d\u2019entretien vu leur usage. Le design int\u00e9rieur fait donc la belle part au bois, \u00e0 la pierre et au terrazzo, qui sont trait\u00e9s de fa\u00e7on \u00e0 s\u2019agencer \u00e0 la couleur jaune qui ponctue l\u2019espace. <\/p>\n<p>La volont\u00e9 de cr\u00e9er un espace \u00e0 l\u2019accessibilit\u00e9 universelle s\u2019\u00e9tend au salon d\u2019affaires o\u00f9 les espaces sont parfaitement adapt\u00e9s. Ainsi, m\u00eame le comptoir d\u2019accueil offre un plan plus bas pour que puissent \u00eatre servies de fa\u00e7on confortable les personnes \u00e0 mobilit\u00e9 r\u00e9duite. <\/p>\n<p>La conception et la construction des ajouts et des transformations de la gare d'Ottawa ont n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 une approche int\u00e9gr\u00e9e de toutes les disciplines. Le design qui en r\u00e9sulte affirme le statut exceptionnel de la gare patrimoniale et forge l'int\u00e9gration des modes contemporains de transports.<\/p>\n","en":"<p>The Ottawa station business lounge offers users a completely renovated space adapted to their needs. It is part of a major project to renovate and upgrade the Ottawa VIA Rail station, which opened in 1966 and was designated a heritage building in 1996. The project is designed to accommodate the arrival of high-frequency trains and bring in a larger business clientele. This project also marks the beginning of a redevelopment focused on universal passenger accessibility, with the addition of elevators to facilitate passenger movement, supporting VIA Rail's commitment to sustainable mobility. <\/p>\n<p>The international style building features the use of glass, steel and raw concrete with a large glass lobby from which the east and west wings extend. The interior design of the business lounge pays homage to this remarkable architecture, while offering a renewed experience to users in a space twice the size of the original one. It also offers a new signature with a judicious use of corporate colour, setting a model for other Canadian stations. <\/p>\n<p>To generously illuminate the space, large openings were made in the wall facing the railway. These large windows, carefully executed with respect to the existing architecture and vegetation, give rhythm to the space and offer users views of the railway activity.<\/p>\n<p>The lounge has been separated into different waiting areas that meet the needs expressed by customers. There is a business centre where it is possible to work in peace and quiet; comfortable and spacious armchairs for resting; alcoves and recessed areas for more privacy; a food area with self-service snacks; and a section with screens showing news and information about the trains. A dedicated conference room is also part of the programme and is available for booking.<\/p>\n<p>The materials are durable and noble, in the spirit of the original building, but also robust and easy to maintain given their use. The interior design materials used focus on wood, stone and terrazzo, which are treated to match the yellow colour that punctuates the space. <\/p>\n<p>The desire to create a universally accessible space extends to the business lounge where the spaces are perfectly adapted. For example, even the reception counter has a lower level so that people with reduced mobility can be served comfortably. <\/p>\n<p>The design and construction of the additions and alterations to Ottawa Station required an integrated approach from all disciplines.
