primaire Montmartre de Pointe-aux-Trembles avait grandement besoin de renouveau. C\u2019est par l\u2019am\u00e9nagement de nouveaux lieux d\u2019apprentissage, de socialisation et de partage de connaissances entre les \u00e9l\u00e8ves et le personnel p\u00e9dagogique qu\u2019un concept en design d\u2019int\u00e9rieur centr\u00e9 autour du bien-\u00eatre de l\u2019usager a \u00e9merg\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Un nouveau volume \u00e9pur\u00e9 et en parfaite harmonie avec l\u2019existant a permis de cr\u00e9er des lieux de partage de connaissances et d\u2019\u00e9changes avec la communaut\u00e9. Celui-ci inclut notamment une biblioth\u00e8que, 3 maternelles, 2 services de garde, un gymnase double, une cuisine communautaire ainsi que des aires de socialisation et de d\u00e9tente. La r\u00e9fection du b\u00e2timent existant a permis la transformation d\u2019une palestre en 3 maternelles et de 3 locaux polyvalents. L\u2019ancienne biblioth\u00e8que \u00e0 quant \u00e0 elle \u00e9t\u00e9 transform\u00e9e en local pour le personnel enseignant.<\/p>\n<p>Le concept privil\u00e9gie un dialogue constant entre les usagers et l\u2019environnement ext\u00e9rieur. Misant sur la biophilie, ce projet s\u2019inspire des \u00e9coles scandinaves \u00e0 la fois chaleureuses et motivantes. D\u2019entr\u00e9e de jeu, la lumi\u00e8re naturelle baigne g\u00e9n\u00e9reusement les vastes espaces de vie. Dans la salle communautaire du premier \u00e9tage, des cloisons mobiles vitr\u00e9es permettent de moduler l\u2019espace selon les besoins du moment. Ces murs de vitre repliables ont l\u2019avantage de laisser filtrer la lumi\u00e8re naturelle provenant du local, tout en coupant les occupants de la cohue pouvant provenir des axes de circulation. Cette intervention de nos designers ajoute de la flexibilit\u00e9 aux lieux de socialisation et d\u2019apprentissage.<\/p>\n<p>Dans un contexte scolaire, cette flexibilit\u00e9 des espaces est selon nous essentielle puisque chaque \u00e9l\u00e8ve est unique et apprend de fa\u00e7on diff\u00e9rente. Cette ligne de pens\u00e9e nous a pouss\u00e9 \u00e0 r\u00e9inventer le concept de la classe afin que celle-ci puisse correspondre aux types d\u2019apprentissage propres \u00e0 chaque enfant. Ainsi, les classes de maternelle sont dot\u00e9s de coins d\u00e9tente baptis\u00e9s \u00ab refuges \u00bb. Pour acc\u00e9der au refuge, l\u2019\u00e9l\u00e8ve doit gravir un petit escalier de bois pour finalement arriver dans un espace confortable et sombre. \u00c9voquant pour certain la cabane dans les arbres ou pour d\u2019autres la cachette sous les coussins, ces endroits ravivent nos souvenirs de jeunesse et peuvent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s \u00e0 la fois comme lieux de d\u00e9tente ou comme espaces tranquilles pour certains enfants \u00e9prouvant des difficult\u00e9s de concentration.<\/p>\n<p>Partout dans l\u2019agrandissement, le bois est omnipr\u00e9sent et garnit les murs et les plafonds du projet en plus de s\u2019y retrouver sous forme de mobilier utilitaire. Par l\u2019entremise d\u2019une telle utilisation, ce mat\u00e9riau prend enfin la place qui lui revient comme \u00e9l\u00e9ment structurel et ornemental pris\u00e9 de l\u2019architecture durable. Sans surprise, le bois et la lumi\u00e8re naturelle sont les v\u00e9ritables vedettes du concept de design d\u2019int\u00e9rieur. Pour laisser parler la puret\u00e9 de ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments, l\u2019\u00e9quipe a opt\u00e9 pour une grande sobri\u00e9t\u00e9 et une palette de couleurs restreintes. Plusieurs accents orang\u00e9s se retrouvent dans le projet, notamment dans la cuisine communautaire qui est le noyau central de l\u2019agrandissement. Cet espace est un lieu d\u2019apprentissage et de partage o\u00f9 les \u00e9l\u00e8ves peuvent cuisiner les aliments qu\u2019ils ont pr\u00e9alablement fait pousser sur le toit-terrasse d\u00e9di\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019agriculture urbaine. \u00c0 l\u2019instar du positivisme et de la passion avec lesquels TLA Architectes aborde la question du design aupr\u00e8s des jeunes, la couleur orange est dynamique, chaleureuse et invite \u00e0 la communication.<\/p>\n","en":"<p>Without a doubt, Montmartre Elementary School in Pointe-aux-Trembles was in great need of renewal. The renovation of the existing building allowed for the transformation of a palestra into 3 kindergartens and 3 multi-purpose rooms. As for the former library, it was transformed into a break room for teachers and staff members.<\/p>\n<p>The concept favors a constant dialogue between users and the outside environment. The project is inspired by the warm and motivating Scandinavian schools. First off, natural light generously bathes the vast living spaces. On the second-floor community room, movable glass partitions allow the space to be modulated to meet the various educational and gathering needs. These folding glass walls allow natural light to filter in from the room while cutting off the occupants from the noise of the adjacent circulation axis. This intervention by our designers adds flexibility to both social and learning spaces.<\/p>\n<p>In a school interior design context, we believe that this flexibility is essential since each student is unique and learns differently. This mentality led us to reinvent the concept of the classroom so that it could correspond more to the specific learning styles of each child. Thus, pre-school classrooms were equipped with relaxation areas called &#34;refuges&#34;. To reach the refuge, young students must climb a wooden staircase to finally land in a small but comfortable darker space. To some, the concept will be reminiscent of the tree house. For others, it will bring back memories of building a secret hideout with the living room\u2019s sofa cushions. In the end, creative spaces like these bring back memories of our youth and can be used as relaxation areas as well as quiet spaces for children with concentration difficulties.<\/p>\n<p>The renewable natural resource that is wood is omnipresent in the project and can be seen on walls and ceilings throughout the extension. It is also found in the form of cabinetry and woodworking elements such as shelves, storage cabinets and benches.
