Il s\u2019agit de la seule adresse qu\u00e9b\u00e9coise de la plateforme, leader mondiale en mati\u00e8re de cr\u00e9ation et d'exploitation de contenu 3D en temps r\u00e9el (RT3D).<\/p>\n<p>Construite en plusieurs phases entre les ann\u00e9es 1913 et 1948, la manufacture est \u00e9tablie \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 du canal de Lachine et des voies ferroviaires, selon les plans de l'architecte de Bell, William John Carmichael (plusieurs phases d\u2019extension suivront, sous la direction d\u2019autres architectes). Elle se compose de plusieurs b\u00e2timents de brique dont le plus important est form\u00e9 de cinq ailes de diff\u00e9rentes longueurs et de huit \u00e9tages chacune, caract\u00e9ris\u00e9es par la trame r\u00e9guli\u00e8re des ouvertures et par des motifs de style Art d\u00e9co. Apr\u00e8s cessation de ses activit\u00e9s en 1974, le site est transform\u00e9 en un complexe multifonctionnel et prend le nom de \u00ab Nordelec \u00bb. Il figure depuis au R\u00e9pertoire du patrimoine culturel du Qu\u00e9bec, en tant que symbole local de la p\u00e9riode industrielle du d\u00e9but du 20e si\u00e8cle.<\/p>\n<p>Le projet Unity s\u2019implante \u00e0 travers quatre \u00e9tages de l\u2019une des ailes d\u2019origine, en plus des deux \u00e9tages d\u00e9j\u00e0 occup\u00e9s par la compagnie. Plusieurs d\u00e9fis se sont pos\u00e9s lors du processus de conception, dont l\u2019\u00e9tablissement de liens physiques entre les 6 \u00e9tages et de liens sociaux entre les employ\u00e9s, ainsi que la cr\u00e9ation d\u2019un espace de rassemblement incluant plusieurs salles multifonctionnelles pouvant \u00eatre reconfigur\u00e9es selon les besoins des usagers.<\/p>\n<p>Nos designers se sont inspir\u00e9s de l\u2019image de marque \u00ab Unity \u00bb pour concevoir le projet, promouvant la collaboration et l\u2019ouverture dans une vis\u00e9e d\u2019excellence et d\u2019innovation. Les espaces sont pens\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re \u00e0 provoquer les rencontres et stimuler les \u00e9changes \u00e0 travers diff\u00e9rents dispositifs spatiaux (localisation strat\u00e9gique des services communs, dispersion de postes flex, absence de cloisons ou mobiliers invitant \u00e0 des modes de travail collectif et informel). <\/p>\n<p>Le contexte local a fourni une autre source d\u2019inspiration : les circulations sont agenc\u00e9es selon le principe des ruelles montr\u00e9alaises, avec des voies principales et secondaires, et des stations de travail \u00ab allong\u00e9es \u00bb sont superpos\u00e9es, \u00e0 l\u2019image des duplex et triplex de la m\u00e9tropole. Les mat\u00e9riaux de rev\u00eatement, choisis pour leur long\u00e9vit\u00e9 et leur design \u00e9pur\u00e9, combinent le bois et le contreplaqu\u00e9, la c\u00e9ramique et le quartz, ainsi que divers tissus, panneaux et tuiles de plafond acoustiques, refl\u00e9tant les bonnes pratiques adopt\u00e9es en mati\u00e8re de d\u00e9veloppement durable.<\/p>\n","en":"<p>In 2018, Unity called upon NEUF to expand its office space on the former Northern Electric Company Limited site in the Pointe-Saint-Charles neighbourhood. This is the only Quebec address for the software company, which is the world\u2019s leading platform for creating and operating real-time 3D (RT3D) content.<\/p>\n<p>The factory was constructed in multiple phases between 1913 and 1948 and sits near the Lachine canal and rail lines. The original plans were drawn up by William John Carmichael, a Bell architect, and subsequent extension phases were added under the direction of other architects. The complex comprises several brick buildings, the largest of which has five eight-storey wings of different lengths and is characterized by the regular layout of its openings and Art Deco motifs. After operations ceased in 1974, the site was transformed into a multi-use complex under the name \u201cNordelec\u201d. Since then the building has been listed as part of Quebec\u2019s cultural heritage and a local symbol of the early 20th-century industrial period.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to two storeys that the organization occupied previously, the Unity project occupies four storeys of one wing of the building. Our team faced various challenges, including creating physical links between the six storeys and social links between employees, as well as creating a meeting area that includes several multipurpose rooms, which can be reconfigured according to user needs. <\/p>\n<p>Our designers drew inspiration from Unity\u2019s brand image for the project\u2019s design, promoting collaboration and openness with goals of excellence and innovation. The spaces are laid out in a way that encourages chance encounters and stimulates exchange through various spatial devices : strategic location of shared services, dispersal of flexible workstations, removal of partitions and furniture to invite collective and informal working methods.<\/p>\n<p>The local context provided another source inspiration: circulation paths follow the principle of Montreal\u2019s streets and alleyways, with primary and secondary lanes; \u201cextended\u201d workstations are stacked above one another in the manner of the city\u2019s duplex and triplex apartments. Various strategies encourage social interactions as well as a sense of belonging among the employees.
