This vast land that runs without any physical borders is characterized by the greatness of its landscapes, a distinct way of living and a sense of freedom.<\/p>\n<p>In an attempt to dialogue with this territory, the project offers the visitors to explore different points of view so that they can connect with the landscape. The public spaces, including an exhibition room, a documentation center, and a traditional workshop, are located on the first floor. The multiple openings and the articulation of the envelope of the building, that is made of wooden poles, create a fluid circulation between the site and the building. Those poles are inspired by the structure of a traditional shelter that is called shaputuan, and they would be made by the community members allowing them to participate in building their own cultural center. The second floor is dedicated to the large and open office spaces that are designed to facilitate the communication and interactions between the different departments. This floor is surrounded by the canopy of the forest, and has different points of view toward the traditional activities that take place in the workshop below and outdoor. Au terme de cette \u00e9tape, un portrait sensible a \u00e9merg\u00e9 \u00e0 travers un tableau tridimensionnel color\u00e9, qui se voulait un hommage \u00e0 la force et la r\u00e9silience de cette nation.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019institut, dont la mission est de promouvoir l\u2019\u00e9ducation, la langue et la culture aupr\u00e8s des diff\u00e9rentes communaut\u00e9s innues de l\u2019ensemble du Qu\u00e9bec, s\u2019implante \u00e0 l\u2019entr\u00e9e de Uashat mak mani-utenam, pr\u00e8s de Sept-\u00celes sur la C\u00f4te-Nord. Autrefois nomade, le peuple rieur aujourd\u2019hui s\u00e9dentaire s\u2019identifie toujours \u00e0 son territoire : un lieu vaste et sans limites physiques, caract\u00e9ris\u00e9 par des paysages grandioses, un mode de vie distinct et une grande libert\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Dans une volont\u00e9 de dialoguer avec ce territoire, la proposition offre aux usagers et aux visiteurs diff\u00e9rents moments de connexion avec le paysage. Le rez-de-chauss\u00e9e accueille les espaces publics, dont la salle d\u2019exposition, le centre de documentation et l\u2019atelier traditionnel. Il permet une circulation perm\u00e9able entre le site et le b\u00e2timent par ses diff\u00e9rentes ouvertures et l\u2019articulation souple de l\u2019enveloppe constitu\u00e9e de perches verticales. Ces perches de bois sont inspir\u00e9es de la structure du shaputuan, un abri traditionnel innu, et seraient confectionn\u00e9es par les membres de la communaut\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re qu\u2019ils contribuent \u00e0 l\u2019image et \u00e0 la construction de leur institut. Le premier \u00e9tage est r\u00e9serv\u00e9 aux espaces de bureaux, qui sont am\u00e9nag\u00e9s de mani\u00e8re tr\u00e8s ouverte afin de faciliter les \u00e9changes entre les diff\u00e9rents d\u00e9partements. The design was preceded by a period of research and meeting with people from the community. A sensible portrait emerged from this stage of work, throughout a tridimensional and colorful artwork that is a tribute to the strength and resilience of this nation.<\/p>\n<p>The Institute promotes the education and offers language and cultural resources for all the Innu communities throughout Quebec. It is located at the entrance of Uashat mak mani-utenam, near Sept-\u00celes in the region of C\u00f4te-Nord. Le peuple rieur that was once a nomadic nation is still very attached to its territory even though it has become sedentary. This vast land that runs without any physical borders is characterized by the greatness of its landscapes, a distinct way of living and a sense of freedom.<\/p>\n<p>In an attempt to dialogue with this territory, the project offers the visitors to explore different points of view so that they can connect with the landscape. The public spaces, including an exhibition room, a documentation center, and a traditional workshop, are located on the first floor. The multiple openings and the articulation of the envelope of the building, that is made of wooden poles, create a fluid circulation between the site and the building. Those poles are inspired by the structure of a traditional shelter that is called shaputuan, and they would be made by the community members allowing them to participate in building their own cultural center.
