The staging of a model condo <\/p>\n
Built in 1913 by Northern Electric, the Nordelec is a remarkable example of early 20th-century industrial architecture. HUM\u00c0 design + architecture drew their inspiration from the building\u2019s spatial and historical dimensions in designing this one-of-a-kind model apartment.<\/p>\n
Located in the building\u2019s former boiler room, the new sales office for the Nordelec apartments preserves vestiges of the past in an ultra-modern, bold concept. Elements that inspired the designers were the double-height ceilings, the huge windows, and natural materials. The staged space invites the visitor into a distinct experience. From the reception area to the sellers\u2019 private offices, tall white bookcases take advantage of the height to transform into architectural elements. Platforms and volumes serve as bases for the project\u2019s bathroom, kitchen and model, which serve to enhance the theatricality of the space. Historical photographs on the walls are testament to the rich industrial history of this Montreal neighbourhood.<\/p>\n
The spirit that pervades the space creates a sense of belonging that goes far beyond the purchase of a condo and offers an altogether unique experience. In bestowing this project with the Showroom award, the jury remarked on the sophisticated research that had gone into it, the bold sculptural elements, and the respect for the building\u2019s industrial history through the preservation of certain artefacts, which could almost certainly qualify as museum worthy. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-2995","project","type-project","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
