S’arr\u00eater pour en parler<\/p>\n
In the project S\u2019arr\u00eater pour en parler, designed by Genevi\u00e8ve Hart, the mandate was to transform the interior of the Mont-de-La Salle high school into a space that would encourage freedom of expression and personal fulfillment. The designer\u2019s response was simple and ngenious: integrate that mission into the everyday life of students. Through the creative design of zones that the youngsters would occupy throughout the course of their day, the project is an invitation for them to stop and express themselves whenever they feel the urge. With walls offering a blank canvas for inventive students, the project draws its inspiration from the free expression of street artists. Like so many windows onto their imaginations, these spaces allow students to step outside their tightly scheduled days. Between two classes, during lunch hour, or after school, these outlets are there for their spontaneous outpourings.<\/p>\n
The project also features various meeting and discussion areas. Often located close to the art walls, they consist of benches and dining tables and, in addition to providing important social gathering places, their strategic positioning encourages students to continue working on their art. Plugging away at their masterpieces everyday, the students develop a unique sense of belonging.<\/p>\n
The FERDIE committee chose this project because it stands out mainly in two ways: first, its expressivity, with its integration of colour and large graphics, which set it apart from many current projects that feature an abundance of pristine white; and second, its quality of execution, which is evident in its coherent layout and clear presentation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-2773","project","type-project","status-publish","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
