Ce projet offre \u00e0 la population ainsi qu\u2019aux \u00e9l\u00e8ves de l\u2019\u00e9cole une biblioth\u00e8que moderne et accueillante, un gymnase fonctionnel ainsi qu\u2019une salle polyvalente permettant d\u2019organiser une panoplie d\u2019activit\u00e9s de toutes sortes. Cet agrandissement vient \u00e9galement combler un manque de locaux de classes et moderniser en partie ses installations vieillissantes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une int\u00e9gration en contraste \u2013 <\/strong>L\u2019architecture de cet agrandissement est d\u2019expression moderne dont le style contraste avec l\u2019\u00e9cole existante par ses volumes et ses mat\u00e9riaux. Le nouvel agrandissement, quant \u00e0 lui, a \u00e9t\u00e9 joint \u00e0 partir d\u2019un escalier non conforme de la portion 1969. Because at the primary level, academic success depends first and foremost on the quality of teaching and learning spaces the school team then becomes the transmission belt between spaces and pedagogy, for it is in the classroom and through the teacher that academic success is articulated and defined.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An energy efficient school \u2013 <\/strong>Finally, this school wants and needed to be eco-responsible, sustainable, supports conceptual, technical, and material choices based on a 75-year life cycle that takes into account gray energy and material layout as well as operability and minimal maintenance in time and money. All of this is intended to ensure the sustainability of the building as well as reduced energy consumption, limited waste of potable water, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and optimal air quality. These sad and dreary models were governed by speed of execution and profitability and not by considerations related to pedagogical issues and the well-being of students. Thus, the Ministry of Education, with the help of architects, has put in place a brand new architectural identity for the new generation of elementary schools in Quebec that is proving to be a source of pride while highlighting Quebec know-how.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This new generation of schools<\/strong> is thus meant to be thought of in such a way as to place the student at the center of concerns and design choices with the goal of supporting educational success. Saint-Dominique est un village o\u00f9 les citoyens sont tr\u00e8s impliqu\u00e9s et unis, c\u2019est pourquoi le projet a consist\u00e9 au d\u00e9veloppement d\u2019un mod\u00e8le novateur de cofinancement et de gestion participative de la municipalit\u00e9, du centre de service scolaire de Saint-Hyacinthe et du minist\u00e8re de l\u2019\u00c9ducation du Qu\u00e9bec. Ce projet offre \u00e0 la population ainsi qu\u2019aux \u00e9l\u00e8ves de l\u2019\u00e9cole une biblioth\u00e8que moderne et accueillante, un gymnase fonctionnel ainsi qu\u2019une salle polyvalente permettant d\u2019organiser une panoplie d\u2019activit\u00e9s de toutes sortes. Cet agrandissement vient \u00e9galement combler un manque de locaux de classes et moderniser en partie ses installations vieillissantes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une int\u00e9gration en contraste \u2013 <\/strong>L\u2019architecture de cet agrandissement est d\u2019expression moderne dont le style contraste avec l\u2019\u00e9cole existante par ses volumes et ses mat\u00e9riaux. Le nouvel agrandissement, quant \u00e0 lui, a \u00e9t\u00e9 joint \u00e0 partir d\u2019un escalier non conforme de la portion 1969. Afin de cr\u00e9er un corridor fluide entre les deux b\u00e2timents, l\u2019escalier a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9moli et reconstruit adjacent \u00e0 ce corridor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>D\u00e9velopper le sentiment d\u2019appartenance \u2013 <\/strong>Les architectes ont souhait\u00e9 plus que tout faire de cette \u00e9cole une \u00e9cole exemplaire, propice \u00e0 la r\u00e9ussite \u00e9ducative, con\u00e7ue pour permettre aux \u00e9l\u00e8ves et au corps professoral de d\u00e9velopper un sentiment d\u2019appartenance vis-\u00e0-vis de leur \u00e9tablissement, dans un contexte s\u00e9curitaire et sain en tenant compte du contexte physique et soci\u00e9tal. Parce qu\u2019au primaire, la r\u00e9ussite scolaire passe avant tout par la qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019enseignement et des locaux d\u2019apprentissage l\u2019\u00e9quipe-\u00e9cole devient alors la courroie de transmission entre les espaces et la p\u00e9dagogie, car c\u2019est dans la classe et \u00e0 travers l\u2019enseignant que la r\u00e9ussite scolaire s\u2019articule et se d\u00e9finit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une \u00e9cole performante \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiquement \u2013 <\/strong>Enfin, cette \u00e9cole se veut et se devait d\u2019\u00eatre \u00e9coresponsable, durable, soutient des choix conceptuels, techniques, et de mat\u00e9riaux bas\u00e9s sur un cycle de vie de 75 ans qui tient compte de l\u2019\u00e9nergie grise et de la disposition des mat\u00e9riaux ainsi qu\u2019une op\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 et un entretien minimal en temps et en argent. Tout cela a pour but d\u2019assurer la p\u00e9rennit\u00e9 du b\u00e2timent ainsi que la diminution de la consommation \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique, la limitation du gaspillage de l\u2019eau potable, la r\u00e9duction des \u00e9missions de gaz \u00e0 effet de serre et une qualit\u00e9 de l\u2019air optimale. L\u2019\u00e9cole est dot\u00e9e de 18 puits de g\u00e9othermie qui assure le chauffage et la climatisation de l\u2019agrandissement pour toute l\u2019ann\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<p><strong>La pr\u00e9sence du bois \u2013 <\/strong>De nombreuses touches de bois furent utilis\u00e9es dans les rev\u00eatements int\u00e9rieurs comme dans les rev\u00eatements acoustiques muraux du gymnase de l\u2019\u00e9cole, dans les plafonds acoustiques en latte de bois du corridor et dans la biblioth\u00e8que ou encore dans le mobilier et dans les d\u00e9tails particuliers de retomb\u00e9es de plafonds dans le corridor des classes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Une \u00e9cole vivante et dynamique \u2013 <\/strong>La biblioth\u00e8que offre une atmosph\u00e8re ludique aux enfants qui est propice \u00e0 l\u2019apprentissage et qui incite \u00e0 la d\u00e9couverte des livres. Plusieurs mobiliers con\u00e7us \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle des enfants sont int\u00e9gr\u00e9s aux espaces et permettent de varier les exp\u00e9riences.\u00a0 Des banquettes confortables sont dispos\u00e9es pr\u00e8s des fen\u00eatres pour profiter de la lumi\u00e8re naturelle pour la lecture. Un mini gradin en lattes de bois a \u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9nag\u00e9 avec des alc\u00f4ves angul\u00e9es en forme de montages color\u00e9es. Plusieurs pr\u00e9sentoirs \u00e0 livres prennent des formes vari\u00e9es, amusantes et attrayantes pour les enfants. L\u2019ajout de cloisons vitr\u00e9es aux motifs de triangles et aux couleurs vives divisent certaines zones de la biblioth\u00e8que pour cr\u00e9er plus d\u2019intimit\u00e9. La trame de fond de ces \u00e9l\u00e9ments est unifi\u00e9e par la pr\u00e9sence du plafond en lattes de bois en angle qui dynamise l\u2019espace et apporte un c\u00f4t\u00e9 chaleureux.<\/p>\n<p>Le design des corridors est rythm\u00e9 par l\u2019insertion de couleurs en bandes rappelant des traverses pi\u00e9tonnes. L\u2019entr\u00e9e des classes est marqu\u00e9e par une alc\u00f4ve en bois et une couleur accent qui permettent d\u2019apporter une distinction \u00e0 chacune des classes.<\/p>\n","en":"<p><strong>A participatory environment in its community \u2013 <\/strong>It is in this register of an inclusive and stimulating school that our project to expand the Rocade Elementary School in Saint-Dominique fits. Saint-Dominique is a village where citizens are very involved and united, which is why the project consisted of the development of an innovative model of co-financing and participatory management of the municipality, the school service center of Saint-Hyacinthe and the Ministry of Education of Quebec. This project offers the population and the students of the school a modern and welcoming library, a functional gymnasium as well as a multipurpose room allowing the organization of a wide range of activities. This expansion also fills a gap in classroom space and partially modernizes its aging facilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An integration in contrast \u2013 <\/strong>The architecture of this expansion is of modern expression whose style contrasts with the existing school by its volumes and materials. The new addition, meanwhile, was joined from a non-conforming staircase from the 1969 portion. In order to create a fluid corridor between the two buildings, the staircase was demolished and rebuilt adjacent to this corridor.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Developing a Sense of Belonging \u2013 <\/strong>More than anything else, the architects wanted to make this school an exemplary school, conducive to educational success, designed to allow students and faculty to develop a sense of belonging to their institution, in a safe and healthy context taking into account the physical and societal context. Because at the primary level, academic success depends first and foremost on the quality of teaching and learning spaces the school team then becomes the transmission belt between spaces and pedagogy, for it is in the classroom and through the teacher that academic success is articulated and defined.<\/p>\n<p><strong>An energy efficient school \u2013 <\/strong>Finally, this school wants and needed to be eco-responsible, sustainable, supports conceptual, technical, and material choices based on a 75-year life cycle that takes into account gray energy and material layout as well as operability and minimal maintenance in time and money. All of this is intended to ensure the sustainability of the building as well as reduced energy consumption, limited waste of potable water, reduced greenhouse gas emissions and optimal air quality.
